Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Jordan Henderson. I just think while everything is up in the air and Klopp is changing things at the club, he might want to appoint a new Captain.

Hello mate, I just can't see Hendo as a leader. At the moment Sakho is an LFC hero. Give him the band. It's a no brainer for me.

I think the sad truth of the matter is that we don't really have anyone worthy of the captaincy at present. Although I think Henderson's application and attitude over the last couple of years makes him as credible a candidate as any. I do believe there's a chance he can step out of Gerrard's shadow and make appointing him the right choice. The signs were there when Gerrard was injured last season - we just haven't really seen it this season... yet.

I agree to a certain extent, I just can't see Jordan as a Leader.

I think the same of him as a player, but possibly like Gerrard I don't see what he adds with the captaincy.

Sakho is an interesting shout. I hope he gets established as our first choice centre back this season. If he does, then he would be a good candidate. He makes an impression on games and is pretty dominate all around. It would be great for others to follow that example

I can't see it, and I've been one his biggest supporters since he joined.

He would need to establish himself as our top CB first and make himself undroppable by which I think Henderson will be the right candidate for the job.

Let's not forget Sakho stormed off from the stadium when he wasn't selected for the derby. I love that he was that pissed off about it, but a professional needs to harness that emotion into achieving something positive. I know it was a while back, but I reckon there's still some growing up to do.

I do like that he's establishing a decent relationship with the fans. He's a really top guy and I'm glad he's here.

Yeah....i think Sakho is a better captain than hendo as well.

Thinking about it now, its criminal how Rodgers wasted him. The last two games have been an eye opener on what a class act Sakho is.

This leaves me to hope that Lovren will also find good form hopefully....but im not holding my breath there...

If youd asked me 3 months ago I'd have probably not been certain that Henderson was in our best eleven , let alone captain. I'm still don't convinced about the latter but will gladly admit I got the former completely wrong .

Surely given klopps style of play ,hendo is likely as any if not more so,to flourish and grow in every sense ?

Klopp says Liverpool FC fans are right to endorse 'absolutely spectacular' Mamadou Sakho

Jurgen Klopp hailed “absolutely spectacular” Mamadou Sakho as he backed the Kop’s ringing endorsement of the French defender’s current form.

Sakho’s name was chanted during and after the 1-1 Europa League tie with Rubin Kazan, leading to the 25-year-old saluting the Liverpool fans from the centre circle at the end of the game.

Always a popular player with the supporters, he has started the Klopp era in style, making many question even more why Brendan Rodgers left him out of the line-up earlier in the season.

Sakho did not even make the bench in Premier League openers against Stoke and Bournemouth, and only returned to the starting line-up for the away leg against Bordeaux in the Europa League.

Rodgers suggested fitness concerns were at least a part of his decision but the popular centre-back has maintained his place since – bar being rested against Sion – and now appears to be firmly established in the back four favoured by Klopp.

The Reds boss had no wish to reflect on issues from before his arrival but is delighted with what he has seen from Sakho since his arrival.

Klopp said: “I can’t say anything about this (failing to start earlier in the year). Maybe he was not fit or things like this. But I can understand why they shouted his name. Mama was really spectacular defending and good playing football.

Hendo will probably develop even more under Klopp. I've got no worries about him being captain.
Sakho could easily have been made vice captain though. Milner seems to struggle a bit with the responsibility. That might change mind.

Nothing will be changed until after the season regardless. Which is the correct thing to do.

I don't like players walking out either, but TBF to Sakho he apologised immediately and publicly for that, which redeemed him in my eyes. Like you I don't reckon he's quite put down roots in that CB slot yet, but my sense of it is that he's not far off doing so. If he does that he'll be third in line, but I wouldn't take Hendo's or Milner's positions away from them - IMO (a) they don't deserve that and (b) each of them is the type of character who would mind a great deal if that happened. They'd carry on doing their best, but that best might well diminish even if they didn't intend it to do so.

Sakho was also a half time shirt swapper when we were losing against Chelsea. He has got some way to go yet and a long injury free run before he transforms into captain material imo.

Far too much is made of the captaincy in England. It is not a magical amulet that gives the wearer special powers.

That's going too far in the other direction though. Read what Ferguson has to say about the importance of Keane to ManUre over the years if you don't believe me.

Agree fully - it would be a massive slap in the face to them, especially Henderson. I am concerned about our leadership group not having the charisma and ability to motivate the rest of the squad but since Rodgers chose Henderson I feel we need to give him a chance to grow into the role.

Given that there were no absolutely outstanding candidates for captain, perhaps it would have been better to give to a player like Skrtel, who presumably will not be here for more than another couple of years, as a transition period. But now that we've gone with Henderson we need to stick with him.

I'm not saying that leadership qualities are irrelevant. I am saying that the captaincy is. Carra for example was extremely vocal on the pitch, and several on here called him "the real captain", but I doubt it would have made any difference to the team or Carra if he was formally made captain.

That's true - but others, who do have natural leadership capabilities, may be holding back for fear of undermining the captain. Carragher was never arsed because he wasn't afraid of stepping up and doing what's best for the club. Being at the club for so long gave him authority. I don't think you can compare that situation to the group of players we have now.

Sakho is the only one in the squad who seems like a cool guy. Hard to say from here but Henderson seems totally uninspiring. Sakho is a leader. Much rather he was captain.

Sakho is the only person in the entire squad who 'seems like a cool guy'?

What does that even mean?
