We need to prepare some nicknames, quickly.
Hmmm, I really wish we'd signed Koke or Isco.

Played for some average French sides for most of his career returning average stats, never plays for France at An international tournament before 2016 and never returns stats like he has done this season before in his career.
He's every bit comparable to kante in his rise to prominence
Why isn't it? Have a look at our recent transfer strategies. Kenny, Rodgers and now Klopp have all been in charge while we've paid well over the odds for Premiership players. They can't all be at fault, surely? The one constant is that fucking useless committee of non-football bellends.
I am afraid I am in the group of mardy arses who aren't enamored with the signing.
This season's Benteke.
Why not Yen or Baht ? Both are strong and we could save even more.Assuming we converted from dollars though, we saved around $5M USD by not wrapping this up early last week.
Wonder if that played a factor.
Why would Koke leave a champion league final 4 side to join a team that's not even in Europe. We need to prepare some nicknames, quickly.

Yup. Paying 32 million plus for Mane is the typical unimaginative transfer which has come to define our transfer policy. Ideally when we invest 30 plus million, it should be on a player who has the potential to grow to a 50-60 plus million player. I don't think Mane is that. He wont be a complete flop but he wont be a success either (see Lallana).
If Mane does not justify the transfer fee and we struggle again, I hope the fans don't turn on the manager. Bob Paisley will have a tough time finishing above 6th with our transfer committee.
I hope I am really really wrong about Mane transfer.
I don't understand your point. We do lack pace in our attacking players, that much is obvious. Which is why we've bought a player for £30m who has some. Because it's important.

$ don't play any part in this transfer, neither do € so why even mention them ?!

And no doubt the PL and Sky pay us in USD too.I don't know why you're so sure that's the case. Having American owners, it's quite feasible that we indeed did convert from Dollars after all.
Very possible we were more willing to make this deal now as a result.
This transfer would probably not have happened if we had gotten Dembele.
I agree with most of your post though but not the part about Mane being a success.
There is a good possibility he'll be a great signing considering how he'll fit into the team.
That hasnt been the case with several of our other expencive signings.
Similar arguments were made when we assembled the elite attacking trifecta of Charlie Adam, Downing, and Carroll. Downing provides width, crossing ability, most chance created in the PL, best crosser meets best header, blah blah., Adams corners are amazing etc etc
Indeed, but adding a direct pacey goalscoring winger in Klopps 4-2-3-1 is a bit different.
Lets hope he turns out to be a good signing. Starting a negative vibe before he's even played a game isnt the way forward 😉
Haha. I admire your optimism, I really do 🙂
But why expect different result when we do the same thing over and over again. As I said couple of posts before this, I hope I am really really wrong about Mane. I hope you get back to me in a year, rub my face in it, and remind me consistently how wrong I was 🙂
But I just dont see Mane being worth that much money. If we need players to reach the next level - we need players who can take us to the next level either immediately or who can evolve and develop into such players. Mane isnt that. He is a very good player, not an elite one.
The other aspect is why even bother with scouting and transfer committees and sabermetrics and bullshit when it appears we do our scouting based on match of the day.
How about 'they are completely different players'. No ? That doesn't work for you ?Haha. I admire your optimism, I really do 🙂
