Sack him

Do you think the owners would give him any more money to waste.. ? Brendon in the transfer market is like sending your wife out to go buy that big wide screen TV you always wanted, for her only to comeback with a Cheap Polaroid Model from Tescos's... Yes it serves it purpose, but on the face of it, its shite..
.

But we know Brendan has wanted Costa, Willian, Mhkitayran, Sanchez in the past. So basically he has settled for an up and coming second tiered model. Don't think the television analogy is correct. The transfer market is a lot more complex than buying a television.

No I just want somebody to manage a team that has a bit of tactical nouse about him and has an inklinin of how to play a side he has picked as the starting 11..

You want somebody? No, you want Rafa mate. You've mentioned him several times and in this thread already.

Rafa's starting 11 was often baffling. He also had his mistakes in the transfer market. I just don't think you've thought this through.

The point I making he appears clueless in getting it right in the market.. thats the analogy I was making..

1 player out of the signings he has made stands out.. and he is constantly injured.. Coutinho could be another, but he is too inconsistant

Its a shocking statistic...

Here's a thought, if you can't get what you want then don't go buy the 2nd/3rd best thing.

Yeah that's grand. How about Sigurdson, Williams, Dempsey, Papadoupoulos?

Rafa was no better.

I'm not calling for Rafa here, but I'm pretty certain we would have had more than 5 points in that group with him in charge. might be wrong, but BR has looked completely out of his depth in the CL.

Reina, Alonso, Garcia, Benayoun, Mascherano, Torres, Agger, to name a few, I would say he was much better...

He even got a Potential Donkey in Peter Crouch looking world class at times..

Josemi,Degen, Krompkamp, Itandje, Aquilani, Robbie Keane, Riera, Babel, Kyriagos, N'Gog and I'm not even trying, not to mention the 150,000 youngsters he signed that never made it.

I'm not disputing the class players that were signed by Rafa, what I'm saying is that his hit to miss ratio was about the same as Brendan's.

Weren't we in the Europa league during the first season Brendan was in charge. How did it go?

It's already been disproved in another thread, also if you look at the money spent. Rafa spent 200 mill in 6 years. Brendan in 3.

I'm not talking about the money, I'm talking about the ratio of good players signed to shit players signed.

Again though, as with Lallana, you're not looking to debate these things, you're just looking to repeatedly hammer home your opinion at every possible juncture, so there's little point in continuing to respond.

I don't want to get too involved in this but you know full well that it's much easier to spend 200M these days than it was back then. Transfer fee inflation and all that.

Doesn't matter jono.
Brendan is better. Let's perpetuate the myth.

This is why you annoy people Modo.

No one is saying Rodgers is better than Rafa. NOT ONE PERSON.
The majority just don't think it's highly beneficial for us to sack Rodgers right now and hypothetically bring back Rafa. This has been said to you several times across a multitude of threads.

Totally agree. Rafa would have gotten us out of that group IMO.

OK, our last line up....do you know how many of Rafa's signings started?

Johnson, Skrtel, Lucas, Sterling.

Brendans?

Mignolet, Allen, Louvren, Lambert

AND RAFA LEFT 5 YEARS AND £200 MILLION POUNDS AGO!!!

Oh and here's the kicker, you know who the best player on the pitch was?
A FUCKING RAFA SIGNING!

Am.... we have to sign players. We went for the up and coming approach (Can, Lazar, Moreno, Origi etc). I wanted a superstar too you know.

Not sure what you want me to do with that list above. Gylfi is a fine player and is flying for Swansea at the mo. I don't like Williams but it seems we got Sakho instead. Same for Papa. We signed the French international who in theory was rated higher than Papa and Williams. Dempsey was a weird approach all right.

I think that was more the owners thing than Brendons with Dempsey tbf...

Rafa was also very shrewd with some his signings which lowered the costs. Like he found Agger in Brondby, Skrtel in Russia etc.
But you're right to some extent.

Why are ye discussing one managers transfers over the other? This has no bearing on whether an ex manager should come back for us right now. Jono want's Rafa in as interim manager (Just to win the Europa League) so his transfer history is redundant.

I'd take Rafa back because he knows how to set up a defense.

whatever. it isn't about having an opinion, it's about disregarding facts.
Hence my reply.
Saying that Rodgers record is on par with Rafa's is just plain fucking wrong.

Arbeloa was the best value for money signing Rafa made..

Selling him for a 17 million Glen Johnson was a bit of a huge mistake..

I think ye should stop worrying about a transfer record head to head. That won't help us move forward in the short term.

Heh, to some extent? I'm right, full stop.

I actually think that Rafa's best buy was Alonso for just under 11M. That was an insane buy.
