Sack him

It seems if you speak out on here it is then quashed by the minority..

I wouldn't mind but I beleive what I'm taking about makes perfect sense, in terms of the club moving forwards if all continues to look grim..

I'm sure you'd be in great company on a Chelsea forum. But you shouldn't be surprised to find such opposition to your proposal here. I'm amazed that needs pointing out to you.

For all the people saying we should stuck to Rodgers, there's a lot of generalizations about our success backing their argument, not specifics about tactical prowess and setting up a team to succeed.

That for me is very telling.

That's because we are hopeful, reasonable(ish) people who think a man should be given a second chance. He's been a coach for a long time and I'm sure he has ideas how to improve himself and the team.

I think people overstate the performance during that match. Real didn't hit top gear as they were playing a reserve team and they knew they didn't have to.[/quote
I didn't say it was a good performance it was clear what rodgers and the team were trying to achieve when in most games it looks like a dogs dinner.

You could use that justification to back Hodgson as well though.

We recouped alot of what we spent though, wasn't the net spend 20 odd million?

I'm not sure. Agents fees and signing-on fees would have been massive, and on top of the transfer fees. But, with transfer fees spread out of the period of the contract, we could have spent 20mill-120mill, I've no idea. And I'm not sure how much Madrid forked out up front or how that impacts the immediate balance sheet.
I just get the feeling that they might not give him too much in January rightly/wrongly.

Rodgers took us to 2nd place in the league last year. This will buy him time.
I can't argue with either of those statements.

But if you're going to argue for Rodgers, I'd like to see some specifics, not just the generalization of our success last season.

I know man management comes up, but for every player he develops, it feels like he freezes and forces out another.

You won't find me providing a defense for Rodgers. I've never been fully sold on him. He is on thin ice in my book. I hope he turns it around and I feel he deserves a bit more time to do so. Calling for his head is still a bit premature.

Oh do fuck off, have you suddenly morphed into Modo? It's not about speaking out, it's about being an hysterical fucking idiot.

It's a stupid point, saying "he's had the same start as X manager", no he really hasn't. He took us to second in the league last season out of nowhere. The lack of perspective on here at times is retarded.

There is nothing hysterical about pointing out just how shit we are then suggesting what the best way is to move forward..

It's about having an opinion..

That was last season.. he is being found out here and know..

Issues we had last season have been unearthed, but no longer being masked by outscoring the opposition as this season we lack the inability to even play football, all down to this genius that is Brendon Rodgers

14 points from 12 games is retarded

Thank you, exactly what I was thinking.

Moving forward by bringing in a manager who already set us back.
That's what you've suggested isn't it?

Okay, go on, back your point with specifics, not generalizations.

Hodgson didn't suit our club one bit. He was a defeatist buffoon.

2nd place last season shouldn't be an excuse to buy him time under our current predicament.. but yeh I 100% agree with Hodgson bit..

Minus the bad interviews (although Rodgers is starting to babble on a bit now), the way we are playing now reminds me every bit like that season.. (until Kenny came back of course)

A stop gap my friend, who has proven track record in getting teams where they need to be..

The Cap fits..

Stop gaps?
We're not Sunderland.
If Rodgers does leave I want a stable manager who's going to try and build a project.
Oh and a top notch director of football.

I'm sick to death of fuckin projects...

Like I said earlier. If all else fails, Bring someone in like Rafa to get us back into the champions League on a short term contract, you will then have the funds required to build your project with the right Manager from there..

Not qualifying for the Champions League, be it either finishing in the Top 4 or winning the Champions League (over ambitious) Europe League (More realistic) will be financially harmful to this club, and set the club back years..

So your plan is to sack our current manager 1/3 of the way into the season, and bring in Rafa in as a "temp"? Are you Abramovich in disguise?

If all else fails.. yes a temp with a proven track record..

Its about whats a stake and what we stand to lose..

That if we couldn't get Klopp

the scary thing is if we do sack him during the season, there is no top manager currently available...so its just easy to say, sack him but then what!!!

This isn't a conversation about tactical prowess, although I can understand why you'd like to frame it that way. No one here is unaware of Rodgers' faults. Personally, I've been one of his biggest critics in recent months. But not thinking that we should sack a manager one third of the way into the season is not about tactical prowess - it's about common sense. This is the manager who brought us within touching distance of the Premier League, and got us back into the biggest competition in the world after a five year absence. And all this after just two years in charge. We're talking about sacking last year's manager of the season, at great cost (he's reportedly on £3.5 million a season), so that we can employ someone else, whom we previously sacked for not being good enough, on a temporary basis. And that's based on the assumption that he would leave Napoli in the lurch. Do you realise how ridiculous that sounds? And if not Rafa, then who? Who is going to drop everything and take over at this stage of the season?

Regardless of what's happening now, Rodgers did enough in his first two years for us to persevere beyond 12 FUCKING GAMES games when things aren't going well. Any talk of sacking him at this stage is whimsical armchair management, the likes of which Chelsea fans would be proud. It's basically endorsing the Abramovich model, which relies on having a bottomless pit of money to pay off outgoing managers and fund new ones whenever he gets bored. In short, it's fucking stupid.

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying we need to or don't need to sack Rodgers.

I'm just saying that blindly claiming that he should retain his job on the basis of last season while not citing specifics is hilariously flawed. Taking individual decisions into account, he's more often than not come up short.
