I have to say I appreciate being able to talk about serious football topics on this site (which are of interest to almost all fans) without having to f** off to some ridiculous part of the site like the "flagpole corner" next to the basketball section...
And it will always be that way Hyena. We arent RAWK. If you want superfan they are easy to find.
There are senior members on here that have been going the match for 40 years and they dont see the need to start shit about non LFC topics. We welcome all, unless your a WUM. OBV!!

You're welcome.

You mustn't notice all the other ones then 😉
Im usually very very careful with my Youre and Your and There and Their shit because I know there is always some cunt who will pull you up on it.

They didn't sign Giroud and Podolski as quickly as they did to replace Chamakh and Bendtner. They did it because they knew that Van Persie was more than likely going to leave. People in football talk through their ass all the time - there is little point in reading too much into what they say.

I suspect Wenger would've been happy to keep him but overall the club was probably resigned to losing him. I don't blame Van Persie either. They're not going to win anything in the near future and after 8 years at the club the time is right for him to leave if he wants to win something.

Neither has left yet, but fair point. I think Wenger wanted him to stay. They probably knew several months ago that he would leave. But if anyone is suggesting Arsenal are happy with their best player leaving and two players arriving with one good goalscoring season each, then I dont agree at all.

"This is an update for the fans about my current situation. I have kept quiet all this time out of respect and loyalty for the club and as agreed with Mr Gazidis and Mr Wenger, but since there is so much speculation in the media, I think it is fair for you guys to know what's really going on at the moment.

"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss and Mr Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club's future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days.

"Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.

"I've thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

"I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens.

"I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal FC.

"Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch.

"I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years. As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America, further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments."

Why? I don't see the problem with them, plus AVB has the additional merit of avoiding people calling the guy "Boas", which is only half his surname and which IMO really *is* irritating.

Why to which bit? If the former, it's irrational I admit. The latter, well that's just because RVP and RIP look pretty similar at a glance.

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov has criticised the running of the club after Robin van Persie announced he would not be renewing his contract.

The Uzbek billionaire has sent a strongly worded letter to the board accusing them of a lack of investment.

"Yet again we are faced with losing our true marquee player because we cannot give confidence we can win trophies," he wrote.

"Where are the safeguards to ensure this doesn't happen again?"

Usmanov's Red and White Holding company has a 29% stake in Arsenal. American businessman Stan Kroenke is the majority shareholder, owning 63% of the club.

Kroenke tried to complete a full takeover of the club in 2011 but Usmanov insisted he would not sell.

In the open letter Usmanov accuses chief executive Ivan Gazidis of giving supporters the impression that Red and White was in a bitter stand-off with the board.

"In our view it is clear you are trying to distract attention from the more fundamental issues facing the club. These are the financial model, the lack of investment and club's future strategic direction."

The letter suggests the "real conflict is between the supporters' expectations and your visions for the club".

He adds: "At the heart of this is the policy of so-called self-financing. The previous decision by the board to fund the building of the Emirates Stadium with long-term debt was, we believe, certainly not about self-financing.

Would Arsenal have finished top 8 without Van Persie last year? They really better hope Podolski and Giroud play well.

It's one thing calling him RVP on a forum, another while discussing football with someone in person.
That would also bother me.
Agree

I've no qualms online, in person though...

*shakes fist*

Aye, but they haven't done too badly out of that either.

This is off the top of my head, so I may be way off:

Adebayor - 25M - waste of money.
Kolo Toure - 15m - he's shite.
Clichy - 5M - average
Nasri - 25M - great player, but he was average for City last year.

So, they've got about 70M out of City and there's only one real loss out of that lot.
Which is all true I suppose
