Is he off then with Arsenal buying all these strikers.

Was it a one off fab season when you consider his shocking injury record.

He was not exactly class at the Euro's either, I never know what to think when I think of Robin as one of the best around.

Love some of his goals but was it a flukey season

He released a statement that read: 'I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract.

'You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.'

He was always going to leave once he stalled on a new contract.
Will be interesting to see if they keep him or sell him?

They have to sell him now surely. Citeh or Madrid i'd reckon....or he'll probably come to us coz we're the new Barcelona innit 😛

He's 29 this summer.

His league goals per season since he joined Arsenal: 5, 5, 11, 11, 7, 11, 9, 18, 30.

30 goals is so far away from everything he's done before you have to think that total is coming back down. Even if it goes back to 18 next season it's still an excellent return though. He's right in his peak, but how long will it last for ? That's the question people thinking of buying him have to consider.

Juve's opening bid of €10m , obviously reflects his one year left on his contract , but I think is an indication they see him as a short term option.

I'm convinced Wenger knew this and they had a gentlemans agreement not to announce it till a replacement was signed.

It's hardly a surprise.

And given that Arsenal decided to quickly wrap up the signings of Podolski and Giroud it begs the question how much they actually wanted him to stay. One top class injury free season and 28 years old... I guess you can kinda see the logic in their thinking if indeed that is what it is.

Oh, they wantedhim to stay. That I've got no doubts about.
He's the last of their high profile players and wants to leave aswell. That doesnt look good for Wenger or the club.
No doubt they'll continue on the same path they've been on for the last years.

I said the moment Giroud was signed it was definite he was gone. Maybe that's what affected him during the Euros, as he was definitely off.

It does say a lot about Arsenal ... Their best players want out year after year.

Yeh but what does Ross have to say about it ?

Yep. Every time I refresh the football forum I momentarily think someone has died.

Why? I don't see the problem with them, plus AVB has the additional merit of avoiding people calling the guy "Boas", which is only half his surname and which IMO really *is* irritating.

"Not many players leave Arsenal, very rarely, and don't regret it. It's an unbelievable club,'' Merson told Sky Sports News. "It's perfect. I'd have liked him to stick it out.

"I'm a bit gutted really. He's burnt his bridges. If he comes back and they don't sell him the fans are going to slaughter him. They'll be devastated. He's a top-drawer player. World class.''

Personally I cant see him going to Barca, he's most effective when played through the center and with Messi's 70 goal haul last season theres no taking that position away from him, thats exactly why they got rid of Ibra. Citeh is a more likely destination but I have a sneaky feeling Madrid will be in for him.

Think he's fucked the Gunners over here tbh.

He was an injury prone, 10 goals(well roughly) a season man up until last season and whilst he's always been very highly rated in the game, their weren't too many big teams interested.

Wenger has stuck by him and made him Captain and generally he was the star man in the Arsenal team, and adored by the fans.

I know footballers have a short career and he's now in a strong position considering the season he just had but it's not like Arsenal won't be playing Champions League football next season, they still have a very exciting team(albeit they do need to strengthen) and you'd have thought RVP would have wanted to be part of it. As the old saying goes, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
