Inler is a better passer/shooter/faster/tackler than Lucas
On Football Manager, maybe ...
Inler is a better passer/shooter/faster/tackler than Lucas
What an absolute load of shite, based on nothing.

But Lucas is one of the most loyal players we've got I'm sure. The red shirt means something to him and that means something to me. We should hang on to him almost no matter what.
I'm completely baffled by the negativism toward Lucas. To me, he is the most composed player we have in midfield. His positional sense in so mature, he doesn't get pulled out of position and he shows for every ball. He doesn't get flustered and builds patiently. He tackles when he needs to, but more often 'jockey's' opposition players where he needs them.
Gerrard will seek out the 'Hollywood' pass and shows more 'drive'. This can result in the spectacular and change games, you absolutely need that kind of player on the team. But you also need a Lucas who patiently dictates the ebb & flow.
I suggest the 'doubters' tape a game off the telly and play it back with the sound off, and just focus on Lucas for a game, to appreciate the role he plays.
I'll be as sick as a parrot if we move him on then see him presented with the next World Cup as Brazil's captain.
