Steelers about to lose to the Bengals.
Yep. We arent looking very clever at all. Back to back defeats following an over time win.
1-2 after 3 games.
I think its safe to say when you lose to Cinci that the title will be elsewhere this year.
Gutted.
Congrats George. Really chuffed for ya.

I think I picked this in the prediction pool!

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Cowboy notes:

*Are the Panthers still rated at all on the defensive side of the ball? For the Cowboys to get back to back 200 yard rushing games says something about where the strength of the O is.

*Nice to see the CBs play well after last week

* Martellus Bennett has had a very quiet start to the season ... So has Ware on the defensive side 'statistically.

* Watch Victor Butler during the last drive makes wonder how good the IR listed OLB Brandon Jacobs is - he was getting more snaps until the injury ... Hodge was also being talked about more than Butler.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

QB updates:

Miami:

Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has been initially diagnosed with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder and the Dolphins expect him to miss the rest of the season, sources familiar with the injury he suffered Sunday told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Tampa:

The winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers benched starting quarterback Byron Leftwich and replaced him with second-year pro Josh Johnson, who takes over following one of the worst offensive performances in team history.

Coach Raheem Morris made the change Monday, a day after the Bucs fell to 0-3 while gaining just 86 yards in a 24-0 loss to the New York Giants. Leftwich completed 7 of 16 passes for 22 yards and one interception.

Cleveland:

Brady Quinn's reign as the unquestioned leader of the Browns' offense didn't even last three games.

Cleveland again has a quarterback quandary, though this one isn't expected to last nearly as long as the first.

After taking the entire preseason to choose Quinn as his starter over Derek Anderson, Browns coach Eric Mangini said he will announce on Wednesday who will start this week against Cincinnati (2-1).

"We'll go back and look at the game and look at some other things," Mangini said Monday, without elaborating what those "other things" entail. "Look at the operation when both guys are in and then look at who gives us the best chance to move the ball consistently."

I cannot believe I wrote that twat's name down - he's the player I loathe most in the NFL.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Yeah, there's about a million versions (including an 0-16 rant, and one seemingly now produced after every game, but week 3 deserves an airing:

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Well, I couldn't've asked for much better of a game to catch live than the Vikings' last minute heroics over the Niners. Fantastic game. Great home opener. Everyone all over the Twin Cities was talking about it.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

And every sports broadcaster is thinking of brett farve as they touch their willies this week...

ha ha ... they've been doing that since forever ... despite the rivalry he had with the 'Boys as they started the ascent and we started our decline (I still remember that great Garrett win over him though on Turkey Day), I never really disliked him. Seemed like a good QB (not as good as he's hyped up to be) who just enjoyed playing the game.

Drives me crazy. Every show you hear "This is what the Vikings got Brett Farve for." Will they still beig saying that when he goes int gunslinger mode in a couple of weeks.

They act like he has done this for years. All he has done is play for a long time and let Desmond Howard win a Super Bowl for him.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

On a side note, IF he can stay healthy, I think Felix Jones is the closest I've seen to 'Barry Sanders Mark II'. Every touch is dangerous ... But, it seems he's got a competition going with Degen ... :/

on a similar note, it's a make or break season for Reggie Bush
yah - he's really got a lot to prove this year. I somehow feel he'll have to switch teams to really give his career a 'shot'

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Watching the Cowboys, I think, is more frustrating than watching the current Liverpool team ... Bloody hell, we should have ended this game by half time and we'll end up losing the way Romo and co are going.

All im seeing is a lot of finger pointing.

This team has no leadership.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

What a pathetic display after Barber's TD run ... The Broncos deserve their win but I'm almost off the 'Tony Romo can take the Cowboys to the playoffs' bandwagon. Besides one phenomenal pass to Hurd, which I don't think many QBs in the NFL can make, he was utter shit. He looks so so unsure of himself, constantly overthrowing WRs (got his #1 killed) and just having no awareness of what was happening around the pocket. I know I know, we had little running game to help him but he's paid the big bucks to lead this team. He cost us the win today as far as I'm concerned with those two TOs (one that led to Denver's TD, the other that ended on Champ's INT). In essence, this team could easily be 4-0 ... but as I said since the season's start, I'd be happy with a 9-7 season considering all the factors ...

Other than that ...

The positives
- We should beat KC next week
- Our defense is fantastic (pity about the botched play on Marshall's TD). Bradie James, as I said earlier in the thread, is the key to our defense as we're still clicking despite yet another sack-less game from Ware (has the contract situation done something to his ability!?!?)

The Negatives
- Why are we not giving Bennett more opportunities?
