Disappointing loss for the Cowboys (33-31).

Funnily enough, Tony Romo is the reason we lost today. Every TD they scored was because of turnovers. We ran over the supposedly 'best front 7' in football (200+ yards Rushing) and while the result is disheartening, it leaves me optimistic that a) the Cowboys CAN compete in the NFC east this year and b) we could make a playoff run (I wasn't sure if either).

105,000+ fans at a Football game though? That's nuts!

That stadium (and the huge tv screen) is amazing. You're right that Romo cost them the game, but Eli Manning was very good at making him pay for his mistakes. Admittedly I did not watch a lot of the game but Eli looked very assured in possession.

That's strange.....

We normally have to wait till December for Romo to have his meltdown.

Just what the hell is he looking at out there?

Im sure Uncle Wade had a word with him. "Ah gee-whiz Tony, d'ya think you could take care of the ball a little better son? That'll be just swell"

Performances like that make me wish Parcells was still there to hand out an arse kicking.

So much for our "stacked" defence. Two games, 54 points conceded, no sacks, no interceptions.

I wonder if you're as harsh on Liverpool as you are on Tony. This was the worst game of his career. It happens, hopefully we won't see this happening again. That being said, if we almost beat them with Tony being this bad, I'm confident as I said.

The defense has yet to gel, and it has to do with our big players (James, Ware, Ratliff, Newman) not really playing up to their levels yet. I think in time they will, and then you'll probably find a way of saying you knew that was the case all along.

Nah, I'm Liverpool first ... It was the 1st professional team I liked ... and it used to really depress me when they lost back in the day. When the Cowboys lost, I only got angry because I was in the middle of a NY High School or college. I'll always have a special spot for the 'Boys but I'm a Red through n' through.

He was an undrafted free agent.

Sat on the roster for a couple seasons behind Drew Bledsoe until he was eventually thrown in as a starter due to Bledsoe's decline.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Maybe I am being too hard on Romo.

But when he became that starting QB in Dallas, Parcells gave him a list of QB commandments. Its said that Romo reads this religiously before and at the end of every season.

He doesn't seem to remember No's 7-11 ...................I love him really ;D

Quarterback commandments:

1. Ignore other opinions – Press or TV, agents or advisors, family or wives, friends or relatives, fans or hangers on – ignore them on matters of football, they don’t know what’s happening here.

2. Clowns can’t run a huddle – don’t forget to have fun but don’t be the class clown. Clowns and leaders don’t mix. Clowns can’t run a huddle.

3. Fat QBs can’t avoid the rush – A quarterback throws with his legs more than his arm. Squat and run.

4. Know your job cold – this is not a game without errors. Keep yours to a minimum. Study.

5. Know your own players – Who’s fast? Who can catch? Who needs encouragement? Be precise. Know your opponent.

6. Be the same guy every day – in condition. Preparing to lead. Studying your plan. A coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality. Prepare yourself and remember, impulse decisions usually equal mistakes.

7. Throwing the ball away is a good play – sacks, interceptions and fumbles are bad plays. Protect against those.

8. Learn to manage the game – personnel, play call, motions, ball handling, proper reads, accurate throws, play fakes. Clock. Clock. Clock. Don’t you ever lose track of the clock.

9. Get your team in the end zone – passing stats and TD passes are not how you’re going to be judged. Your job is to get your team in the end zone and that is how you will be judged.

10. Don’t panic – when all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that steers the ship. If you have a panic button so will everyone else. Our ship can’t have a panic button.

11. Don’t be a celebrity QB – we don’t need any of those. We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out, every day, every week and every season and lead their team to win after win after win.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Are the Giants the luckiest team in the world or what?

What a load of crap.

I love how before the playoffs a few years ago, with the same team, everybody writes them off. They go on a four game run, a win the Super Bowl, and now the last 2 years they have the greatest offensive line ever. Or perhaps the greatest front 7 the NFL has ever seen.

Give me a break, if Romo not decided to turn into Brett Farve, the game would not have even been close.

No way Karl - credit where credit is due, Manning obliterated our secondary. Sure, Romo helped that but just like the Giants deserved their win on Sunday night, they were the better team.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

I dunno about that, Avy.

They had the better QB and they didn't repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot, but take the errors out of the cowboys' game, and you win by 14+ points.

Honestly, the better team (on the night) pissed this one away.

The CFL is definitely a very different game. With the field being so much larger it's definitely a passer's game. Unfortunately we released a former league MVP and replaced him with a weak-armed sick note, a colour blind QB whose specialty is the interception, and now the fourth-string from the league's top team.

While the talent pool in the league is obviously nowhere near that of the NFL, games are usually entertaining and high-scoring at least.

Looked good early but the Titans are starting to rattle him a bit now.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

Haynesworth's just left injured too.

I said we've got 2 we should win (Rams and Browns), and 2 maybes (this being one of them).

2-14 is probable, 4-12 would be lovely.

Over 100 yards rushing this half. It normally takes weeks to get to 100 yards.

and a 99 yard drive from Stafford, though obviously he is due a couple of interceptions at some point...

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

well, 13-0 up at half time. They had the ball on the 8 and got a FG meaning it's still a 2 possession game rather than a 3 if they'd got to 17-0. Hope this doesn't come back to haunt them...

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread

13-7 and a bullshit call on a 58 yard Calvin Johnson gain. They're gonna lose.

CJ has had a bullshit call against him in EVERY game so far this season. It's disgusting.
