NFL Regular Season Thread

Lions are 0-15 ... First team in NFL history to go 0-16 soon enough.

Tampa Bay lost to the Chargers ... so, hopefully the Eagles & Falcons follow suit ...

Easy there sunshine... we still have 4 minutes to score 35 points and tie.

I was hoping that if I say they're finished, they'd shut me up and make me eat humble pie.

Ladies and gents,

Introducing the single most overrated, overpaid DB currently ACTIVE (sorry Roy Williams) in the NFL.

Last season he dropped the perfect season and a superbowl. This season he's dropped his team's final remaining playoff hopes...

Asante Samuel.

F#$!ing cabbage.

2 of 3 results have gone the Cowboys' way so far - Eagles & Bucs lost.

The Bears will hopefully lose tonight too.

D - if the Eagles beat the 'Boys, they are still in I thought.

So what needs to happen next week for the lions to get a wildcard spot?
[/quote]

Iran would have to acquire nuclear weapons and destroy all but 12 of the US cities where there are NFL franchises to ensure we still have the playoffs.

Yes, mate, they are...

The Iggles can also still make it in with a win on Sunday and help from elsewhere...

And how about my Patriots looking like they could win 11 games and win the division without Captain America, huh?

And the bloody Chargers just have to win their last home game to win the AFC West, too - After THAT season? maybe their name is on it...

Insane season, this one.

Tom Brady will never get and doesnt deserve the title of Captain America, actually he might be the most hated athlete in America right now. People despise the Patriots, with that their coach and QB.

Great win by the Giants coming from behind the whole game. Brandon Jacobs back (not a great game) allowed us to play our game and dictate play even when down. He finished off our drives 3 times and was the decoy for our tying 2 point conversion.  Derrick Ward had a career day and owned OT finishing with 215 yards rushing. Manning put together some impeccable drives and the game tying one was a masterclass. Home field advantage is really nice for a stadium like the Meadowlands where the winds swirls and howls and can put QBs right off there games. Defense wasn't great but made some huge stops in crunch time. Deangelo Williams is a stud - completely unstoppable when he is on his game. That was the best team we have played really happy with the W. So glad Brandon Jacobs was back he means so much to this team.

Also glad to see the Cowboys lose  😉 - think the Eagles will beat them knocking out one of the scariest team for us to face in the playoffs because in a one off they are clearly have the talent capable of beating anyone (well maybe not if there is pressure)

Don't talk gash, mate.

Tom Brady, the most hated athlete in America? What on earth are you waffling about? Ever heard of Roger Clemens? Or Terrell Owens? How 'bout Michael Vick?

Yes, people hate the Patriots, mostly because of their decade long success. And yes, they hate Bill Bellichek, for very obvious reasons - I probably would too, if I hadn't spent so long in Boston. But anybody who claims that America despises Tom Brady has no idea what they're talking about.

He's the NFL's poster boy right now.

Giants looked strong again, after a couple of wobbles lately...

I think this is the most open title in years.
Its so hard to call.
Im looking forward to predictions, to see if i can maintain my almost faultless record. (In case anyones forgotten ive got one result wrong in 2 years)

I don't think Tom Brady is hated, but I do think it's a 'Man, I hate him because he's so good' stigma that man of the best athletes get. I do think however that what Cassel is doing is showing that perhaps Brady was only that good because of the system - It will be interesting to see Cassel on another team next year and see if he can replicate that form that has catapaulted the Patriots into post season contention.

Re: The Cowboys.

Cowboys 'seem' to love these 'must win' situations. We've had a few this year so far. 4-3 vs Tampa with NYG next, big 13-9 win. 5-4 vs Redskins, 14-10 win. 8-5 vs NYG, 20-8 win. Maybe just maybe, this team just wants to have 'the season on the line' before it has to perform. I dunno, I have a bad bad feelings about Sunday and am expecting another botched FG or drop catch to doom us. The playoffs begin in game 16 for the 'Boys ... I just hope that come Sunday night, Cowboys fans will be screaming that famous Jimmy Johnson line after the 52-17 shallacking of the Bills ... How 'bout dem Cowboys?

Oh, you can sod off as well...

Tom Brady is arguably the games best, at worst 2nd best QB. He is NOT a system QB, and you bloody well know it. He's a f#$!ing surgeon.

Matt Cassel was the most recruited HS QB of his senior year in the country, and played college ball behind TWO Heisman Trophy winners... Now, he has surprised me at just quickly he's gotten this good, but his potential quality was never in question.

What his form shows is that he's a bloody good player.

Not that Tom Brady is overrated.

Listen, he's a winner ... just like Joe was. That's the one quality he has over every single QB playing in the league currently. If Cassel wins the Bowl this year though, it shows though that perhaps the system made him an even bigger winner - b/c I this lad couldn't even beat out Brian Griese at Michigan ... That being said, he IS the best draft pick in NFL history ...

D - this is like what was said of Troy Aikman too ... He was one heck of a QB, and the system didn't even allow him to really show it.

What do you mean Brady is the only winner?
Garcia, Ben, The Mannings, Favre would all argue with that!

Come on Oncey - none of them have anything, and I mean, anything to stand on with regards to Brady and his 'winner ability'. The lad has won one less Super Bowl than all of 'em combined - It was the same thing with Joe and Bradshaw. All they did was win big game after big game. Ben chokes, as do the Manning brothers, and Favre did too.

Avy,

Troy Aikman is a first ballot Hall of Famer who is widely regarded as one of the most accurate QBs to ever play the game. He'd be in anybody's top 10 all-time list.

This "system" line really f#$!s me off - not you, just in general - by the way. EVERY offense is a flippin' system, built to manipulate the strengths of it's parts. A good QB is exactly what makes a system work, NOT the other way around.

Imagine playing Joe in Minnesota's offense when it had Carter & Moss ... It was just heave ho and let them do their thang. Joe wouldn't have succeed there - he succeeded more so because he had two brilliant WRs, an underrated FB & TE and an offense that didn't allow his slightly above average arm strength to hamper it.

The fact Cassel does so well in this system highlights the fact that either he's almost an equal to Brady (no way Jose) or the system built by Belichik just makes life easier for a QB.

Sorry, Avy. You're wrong here, mate...

It shows that he's a good QB.

But he's nowhere near TB, mate. Tom's wom 3 SBs with worse teams than this, and 12 months ago went 18-1.

Matt's got us to 11-5 or 10-6. BIG difference.

wasn't this season his first 'active' season as a QB for years?
