Megson sacked

Excellent shout. Based on his (admittedly quite short) career thus far, it does seem he may be better at making the best of limited resources than at deploying lavish ones.

The fans never liked him even when he was doing a great job with them. Morons.

All in all it's a harsh decision. I don't believe Bolton would have got relegated this season.

They had 2 games in hand they won them and they went to 10th or 9th i think, pathetic. I hate the club hope they go down this season.

It's impossible to know how much say he had in transfers at City but I doubt it's enough to hold him account for. Remember when Ferguson revealed there was one manager in the league who sometimes didn't even pick the team? I always thought that was Hughes at City.

I suspect he could do a bit better than Bolton if he held on long enough, but it depends how keen he is to get back into it. He'd be a great pick up for Bolton.

Salary drop may be a problem tho' - I'm really suspicious that Megson has been sacked just because Hughes is available.

Megson seems quite an easy manager to dislike. I don't think he was doing a terrible job there though. It can't be easy trying to appeal to people who idolise fucking Fat Sam

Bolton have been punching well above their weight for a very long time now thanks to Fat Sam and now Megson.

I feel it will be a poison chalice now, whoever takes over I think they'll go down regardless.

Bolton are shit, they should go down.

As for Megson, I hated him when he was a player for some reason I couldn't put my finger on. A bit like Glenn Roeder. I hate Megson even more now.

I doubt Hughes will want this job. He's probably still got compensation issues to sort out with City anyway.
Not sure who the Bolton fans would accept. They seem awfully picky (in a kind of thick way).

The ideal situation would probably be for Fat Sam to go back to Bolton and Hughes to go to Blackburn. Can't see it though.

Jules, I agree but it would keep the fans happy in the short term I expect.

George, yeah I imagine the poor man's Fat Sam would be considered acceptable to Bolton fans. Doesn't matter that he is a loud mouthed thick cunt with not much ability. In fact that would probably work to his advantage.

Wasn't he the Fat Controller's assistant at Bolton for a spell? Maybe they remember him from then. Otherwise, however Allardyce is remembered there - fondly for where he got them in the league, or not fondly for leaving them in the lurch - is presumably how they'd regard Permatan, at least to begin with. He would start with one sizeable advantage though, that of not being Smegson.

I would be quite surprised in Hughes join Bolton. Think he'll be looking for a slightly 'bigger' club, with all due respect.

Megson has made some buffling tactical decisions and his signing of Elmander for big bucks, without enoughs goals in return, probably made things worse, in terms of fans' view of him.

Curbs would be my pick to drive them to safety.

Bar one or two obvious mistakes, Hughes did pretty well in the transfer market.

I think it was on the pitch that he struggled more.

Paul Jewell would be a pretty rubbish appointment. Since he is a pretty rubbish manager and all that.
