Manager merry-go-round

I’m sort of split on whether Utd should go after a new manager. Ten Hag did have a lot of injuries to contend with and yet still won a remarkable number of games plus silverware. He may yet come good. Pochetino is the obvious alternative and I’m not too worried there.

Im leaning toward wanting Ten Hag to stay

Gareth Southgate is the man for the job!!!

I don't agree about Pochettino. He's not the man to win you the big prizes, but he *is* good at building up underperforming clubs - he did it at Southampton, got Tottenham to a CL Final and was starting to do the same for the Chavs. IMO he'd be a very good appointment for them in their current state and I'd much prefer them not to get him.

I like the high risk game ... yes he might succeed, but it will be so much sweeter if he fails. High risk, potential high reward - whats what Jurgen has taught us

Wouldn't surprise me one bit TBH, not only because it's Chelsea but also because, even by their standards, appointing Maresca amazed me given Leicester's form for most of the final part of last season. If I were a Chelsea fan I'd be apprehensive about their prospects next time around.

Shame innit.

From what I’ve read Chelsea just want a coach who will play “modern possession football” and not get involved outside of the playing/training world

I imagine his salary is not Poch-like

But on a 5 year contract! Mind you if it's 50p a week I get it.

The longer it goes before Man Utd actually announce that Ten Hag is getting the sack, the more I believe they’ve decided to appoint Southgate, but can’t announce it till after the Euros.

Nah, they can’t be that soft in the head

Seems Brighton are going for the young US/German guy from St. Pauli

Potter to Leicester looks a deal done too

Well… f they wanted to appoint Tuchel or Poch, there’s nothing stopping them and no need to keep Ten Hah hanging on - it’s very strange.

More redcafe

Good. I think he deserves to start the season. Hopefully has a fit squad and we make some good signings.
Our club is lost. And many of our fans are too. Completely delusional.

ETH is a nonsense of a manager. Did you note all those top teams, Barca, Bayern, Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea... all have changed managers and not one, not one would even consider Erik Ten Hag.

Bayern Munich preferred Vincent Kompany.

And yet we still, still have some fans who think this is a good decision.

We deserve everything we get next season. And that will not be much.

Love this one

450m wasted on garbage
8th placed finish
Negative goal difference after 38 games
Dead last in the CL group with 2 cannon fodder teams
Rushing players back and running them into the ground

Congrats to everyone who wanted this loser to stay. Enjoy the summer.

I've never understood the need for posters on here to suggest that self-pleasure is in order due to another football club's misery but I'm starting to get an understanding

Not sure where I read it, but think it was said Southgate wouldn’t discuss the job with us before mid august out of respect for his England job. This reprieve for Erik seems to make Southgate a more likely possibility in the short to medium term for us. If EtH fecks it by Christmas i could see Sir Gareth of Southgate being parachuted in.

I just hope Erik smashes it so I don’t have to spend two seasons watching that boiled horse bungle a rebuild for us.

In reality this 'review' and the length of time time its taken with the ignominy heaped on the Dutch guy will just mean the fan base and the media will leap on EVERY draw/loss - hell shit win even - that united have in the first 3 months

Be careful what you hoped for Mr ten Hag. You are the equivalent of a cuckold

Tbh, as laughable as united were last season; they still won a trophy, and still developed 3 decent youth products all while having a nightmare with injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if they were drastically better next year.

I never revel in them keeping a manager, because it may eventually click.

He had them finishing in the lowest league position ever, negative goal difference, outplayed in most games, conceded the most shots of every team bar two of the relegated teams, awful signings, tactically inept in all but 1 game and he's an absolute cunt as well. Fantastic news for everyone bar Utd.
They're gonna be stuck in the shit mud for the foreseeable future.

They conceded 662 shots in the PL last season. That’s the most ever in history without a team getting relegated.

Now that Pochettino's ruled himself out, until they have a root-and-branch clearout of that joke of a squad of theirs it won't much matter who's in charge IMO. I can't help wondering if INEOS have twigged to that and left Ten Hag in place pro tem to get on with mucking the stables out.

They'll have limited funds, but it'll probably be more than we spend. As I say, as shite as they were, I do think a lot of it is the player dynamics. The club's rotten and multiple managers have said the same thing.

If I was ten hag, I'd walk away.
