Anyone else torn in this?

If city fuck up then Sterling and Guardiola will be in the Europa league next year, maybe even watching us in the CL. Plus, if coming 4th means LVG keeps his job, then is it really such a bad thing.

On the other hand, the scum are the scum.

This is weird.

No. I always want Manchester United to lose.

This, plus the fact that missing out on the CL would present them with a sizeable obstacle in attracting the kind of quality they need to fetch in there. I don't particularly want any of the top teams other than LFC to get stronger, but I want it least of all for that lot.

Nah.

The fact their fans might have to watch us in the Champions League next season is the best scenario. I reckon LVG is gone regardless, especially with Mourinho available. Their reluctance to hire him will surely be softening by the week.

It is a bit of a tough one but ultimately I want Utd to endure as much as what we've had to as possible. So far the post-Ferguson era is going better than I ever hoped it would... won't last forever so gotta make the most of it.

Still think City will get 4th.

When I look back at their success - really it is kind of like the Sith Lord a la Ferguson - his ambition was driven to topple our records, and be better than our standards. But he never totally destroyed us did he ? - we always competed, and in the years we have not one - it has not been that painful at all to be honest - we won cups and even went to 2 CL finals even though we played less in the CL than they have. So when you say they should endure what we have endured - I hope not - I hope they win NOTHING not a cup/league/qualification for any European tournament. Now that is being in the proper wilderness.

Yes, I see all that.

But I think we have a shot at the league next year so I'd much rather have the scum managed by LVG and in the CL, than have them managed by Mourinho.

Fair point and one I'd have sympathy with, but for the fact that I'm not convinced they'd do that much worse under van Gaal than they will under Maureen if he goes there. For all their failings they're still going to finish the season ahead of most teams, and he's brought some youngsters through who have done very well but whom Mourinho may well sideline.

I actually think Mourinho's coaching methods and ability to get through to the players of this new generation is now outdated - it was ok for that generation that included the age group of Lamps, Terry and Gerard - but now I don't think the strict and firm/friendly approach will work on any players. Most players I think have seen through it all plus the mad antics.

I doubt that Mourinho will join them if they are not playing in the CL. If they play in the CL then he will most probably join them. LvG will be sacked even if they qualify for the CL IMO.

Not sure about that. Woodward appointed him and, if they make it into the CL, I reckon he'll want to leave LVG in place at least till his contract runs out

Great scenes at Middle Eastlands, where all the fans fucked off for Pellegrini's leaving party and left him pretending to give a fuck in front of a few hundred of the shithouses.

I'd rather Manure didn't qualify, but it was funny as fuck seeing Raheem looking round the empty stadium then, and it will be even funnier when they sell about 10,000 less season tickets next year if they do manage to fuck it up.

I'm pretty comfortable with the situaton down the road at present. If they keep LVG, the fans don't like him and the players don't seem to be on the same wavelength a lot of the time. If Rooney hadn't been injured, would Rashford have gotten a look in? If they get Moaning arse in, I would say about 50% of the fans are completely against this, and if they didn't come flying out the traps at the start of next season, I can imagine there would be an awful lot giving him the bird and heaping more pressure on him. Something I don't think he has shown he handles very well. If they ended up giving him the boot, it's a season or two wasted and having to try and start again. All this time, hopefully Klopp will be making us more and more powerful, and more attractive to top players.

My hatred for Sterling is relatively short-lived whereas my hatred of Utd is ingrained. So I always have to take the option of seeing them fail.

Still fancy United to do them. Not sure if Martial and Rashford will be back but if they are that's a big lift for them and they'll have added incentive to win now.

Also you have to wonder if West Ham's defeat yesterday will have knocked the stuffing out of them for this season...chance of 4th place all but gone.

Will be a bit shit if United do sneak 4th given how utterly abysmal they've been most of the season.

If they get 4th and we win on the 18th, does that mean they get to play in the EL?
