Still fancy United to do them. Not sure if Martial and Rashford will be back but if they are that's a big lift for them and they'll have added incentive to win now.

Also you have to wonder if West Ham's defeat yesterday will have knocked the stuffing out of them for this season...chance of 4th place all but gone.

Will be a bit shit if United do sneak 4th given how utterly abysmal they've been most of the season.

Yeah, West Ham looked pretty awful yesterday. Still, will be a tough game for them.

It was a one off to be fair. Been really impressed with West Ham all season. Bilic doing a great job there. They'll probably outplay United, but De Gea will perform miracles again then Martial will score in 85th minute to bail them out. Standard.

I'd rather Utd lose out. Fuck them.

I don't really care about City but seeing Utd fail always warms the heart.

Lose the FA Cup final and lose to West Ham on Tuesday please.

Incidentally Arsenal could end up getting 2nd now!

Either Mancs will miss out and that will do for me. Although I'm swaying towards LVG staying and Pep roughing it out in the Europa. That will be a good laff!

That is if we win the Europa trophy or the joke's on us!

I'd like to see United miss out, but seeing Pep having to manage City in the Europa League would be pretty funny and be a decent silver lining. I'd especially love it if we were in the CL next season and Sterling wasn't....the little prick.

City for fourth please. I want United to keep on suffering - and starting the season with a thin squad and a bunch of EL games will be perfect.

After the final game, Van Gaal will reveal that inside that stupid great big book book he always has on his lap there's nothing but a copy of the Radio Times.

I actually think Mourinho's coaching methods and ability to get through to the players of this new generation is now outdated - it was ok for that generation that included the age group of Lamps, Terry and Gerard - but now I don't think the strict and firm/friendly approach will work on any players. Most players I think have seen through it all plus the mad antics.

What? So one year after winning the title, Mourinho's management style and methods are now defunct, and belong to a different generation and era? Because while thickos like Lampard may have fallen for it, the super-savvy smart new kids on the block won't?

Seriously?

Yeah, it sounds a bit far fetched to say the least. It is a bit interesting though that of the 21 titles he has won only 5 of them have come after 2010.

This does bring to mind a similar article in The Times, talking about the demise of the "hairdryer" and ruling by carrot/stick managerial style, and how the new "grown up" listening approach is obviously now the key to success, because of the trailblazing success story that is Claudio Ranieri

For decades the magnificent Ranieri refused to buckle to accepted norms, and change his style, and now...finally...football has caught up with this revolutionary genius.

It's starting to tick me off

These in the last 5,5 years:

2 league titles which is very good obviously.

I suppose it's only evidence of a decline when you compare it to the eight seasons following his appointment at Porto, when he won 6 leagues and two European Cups.

I absolutely hate Mourinho, so I hope he's not doing this, but if he's got any sense he'll be using the time off to think about how to evolve the way he sets teams up with reference to how Simeone's done it, because he's almost a Mourinho 2.0 in his approach. Mourinho tried to be more expansive the first season he was back at Chelsea then regressed (in style) when results didn't go his way. That said, I've no idea whether he would have had greater longevity at Chelsea had the players not been arseholes and if he'd had greater support from the board.

So if all goes well next year, CL footy will be

CITY,
ARSE
LCFC
SPURs and

if all goes well us - Liverpool, but NO

Chelsea and Man U. Yup the world has gone MAD.

Yes seriously. I think most players cannot suffer hum for more than a season. Either they blow over or he does. He strikes me as too stressful these days.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been spotted meeting Manchester United legendSir Alex Ferguson for lunch.
The pair, along with Pochettino’s assistant Jesus Perez, were snapped outside Scott’s Restaurant in London’s Mayfair on Tuesday.

The pictures have heightened speculation on social media that Ferguson could be working on behalf of the Old Trafford giants to persuade Pochettino to replace Louis van Gaal this summer.

I couldn't give a shit about that scrote Sterling TBH. He'll find out his limitations the hard way in the CL anyway.

I really, really want Utd to miss out on the CL & be forced to play in the Europa League instead. It'll mean De Gea fucks off for sure, which is fucking ace, & it'll hamstring their season as it almost always does to teams playing in that competition.

The longer that club keeps losing the better. I still want Nottingham Forest to lose every week & they haven't been in the same league as us for about twenty years!

Well if he was trying to persuade him to go to Utd he failed miserably as he's just signed a five year deal with Spurs.

Unless that was Tottenham making sure they get a nice big wodge of compo for him....

Perhaps in a year or two, I cant see him signing a contract in May & leaving in July. And I'm a cynical bastard.

It may well be better if the mancs get Mourinho, I cant see him miraculously learning how to build a long term squad & team when he's failed to do so once in his managerial career, & he's successfully managed to leverage Chelsea's incredibly deep pockets into a couple of titles & cups twice, & both times left them in disarray, huge wage bills & the squad needing a full overhaul.

Of course it would be better for A N other manager to take over & fail miserably, but I doubt they'll give many other managers as much spending power as they would Mourinho.
