Ladies and gentlemen, SCM is taking applications for our new @Halmeister ?
Ever since the original retired - we've been shite.
There's a few excellent candidates in this thread - please send your applications to Hal and he'll review

Yeah, fucking hell, everyone else has turned into a hysterical fanny and hardly anyone can see we've played quite well. Meanwhile, I'm the positive one. What's going on?

Gomez has been poor, they've swamped the midfield and forced us to go long. Gini, Gomez and VVD all with poor mistakes.

I know we won the league but I'm fed up of the false number 9. Give me a proper number 9 a Torres type of player any day .

It's another throwback to the golden years - after we clinched titles we were often half-asleep in games. As much as I'm hating this, mainly for all the ridiculous crap that will be spouted for days afterwards, it could be a blessing in disguise. For one thing, it ought to shut up, at least for a while, the idiot local hacks who keep claiming we can just 'do the same again' without any strengthening of the squad. And for another, Klopp will be sufficiently furious to make sure the rest of our performances this season are professional ones.

As for the second half, we need to attack from the right as well as the left. I know that Virgil's predictable long passes aren't actually being predicted that well by City, for some strange reason, but we really need to mix things up a bit. I'd say we should also be far more aggressive, but this ref bothers me - we could end up with a couple off. Firmino can absolutely delight you with his clever touches but when he's this quiet he needs to play himself back into the game with simple but effective passing. And they all need a bollocking at HT!

By sucker punches I mean they've scored against the run of play. Up until that first goal we could, and perhaps should, have been leading by a couple. We've even had chances after that.

I agree, we've been better at creating chances. But we didn't take them and City were absolutely clinical. Reminds me of their game against Real Madrid where they were seemed to be outplayed in every department, but came away with a vital away win. Absorbing pressure and playing on the counter seems to be the antithesis of Guardiola, but it can be incredibly effective if you have players like De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.

I'm putting some money on us to win at 51/1 and some on a draw at 17/1, and relaxed in the feeling that no matter what happens tonight, still winning.

Even with the sound down Sky's coverage is fucking annoying. They went for a replay even when they could see a quick throw in was being taken so they had to scrap it. It's as if the director has ADD. I bet Tyler is enjoying this, the bitter old creep.

The momentum has gone now.
I thought we would be more up for this game, mentally, but it seems as if we thought all we had to do was turn up....
we need two or three goals without reply 2nd half. It is about pride now. If we lose the remaining games then so be it, but we neeed to atleast get something out of this one, then put doubts into City for the rest of the season and the CL

I am with you. We haven’t been that bad but we’ve been punished by dropping our performance by 10-20%. We just need to stop having Lovren’s.

I wouldn't even say we've dropped by as much as that. We could easily have been 2 or 3 up by the penalty and everyone would be sucking the team off.

Instead you've got people calling for Klopp to overhaul his tactics and claiming this is some earth-shattering embarrassment.

How many times did we win the battles of beating United or whatever, only for them to win the war? Did it feel better that way? I'd have taken a 10-0 bumming at the Etihad at the start of the season if you had also said we'd win the league.
