Manchester City vs Liverpool - Match Thread.

I think it more shows that if you let your mentality and concentration drop with a few percent, it will be enough to lose to this City team. Its understandable that we were a bit off, and I couldnt care less.

Maybe. They had an off day. City took their chances. We're still champions.

Calm down calm down
We are the champions it's not good it's embarrassing but it's done now let's move on and improve

Loads of them had an off day but I can't remember a game where every single bounce of the ball went to the opposition like that. If Salah scored early on we'd have probs won. Had some great chances and made a bollocks of them all.

Wasn't as bad as it looks

Yep, I thought the same mate. We had enough chances, switched off after they scored the first and paid the price.

Certainly wasn’t as bad as a 4-0 and I’m not worried or questioning the manager. How can you after the last 3 years?

And the hysterical shite out of some on here is why I don’t post anymore. Kinda done with this place now, thankful for the mates I’ve made over the years but it’s time to fuck off, CBA anymore [emoji3]

Champions eh [emoji4][emoji4] Boss tha.

UP THE UNBEARABLE REDS

Klopp actually said he was pleased with their attitude. Fucking hell.

Protecting the team, surely. But also you could say the attitude was good if by attitude you mean the part that the players can consciously control. We outplayed City in the first 30 minutes, pressed harder, created more chances – but just didn't take any, which is where the subconscious part comes in. I wonder what would happen if we scored first.

We probably would have won, but I honestly did not give a shit when we went 2-0 down, I mean losing 4-0 probably made the City players feel like even more shit ... " we lost the league to this lot .....? - Gutted !!". Anyway - I don't agree with us not wanting to sign anyone this season - clearly we need a world class steamroller mother fucker.

A steamroller motherfucker, whatever that is, and an old fashioned number 9. Get on it, Michael Edwards.

City absolutely wiped us out.

Robertson had about 200000% too much testosterone, repeatably tossing himself into unwinnable 'tackles' but he wasn't the only one off the pace by a long shot. Let's hope this serves as a warning to the team and they don't let it drop from here.

Remember this is roughly the team that came back from 3-0 down to Barca.

I hate to knock a Liverpool player but Origi ..... why?

Henderson 7
The rest Meh

It's not a question of accepting plausible excuses, it's a question of mentality. The great champions never look for excuses, they never accept them (even when they can), they are always furious about defeats, they're always angry with themselves for defeats, they are always absolutely intolerant of the slightest slip in standards. You either understand that or you don't. Roy Keane was such an important figure for the mancs as a captain because he had that attitude. This game might prove to be a complete one-off or it might be looked back on as something more serious. We'll have to see what the reaction is over the next few games. But there's absolutely no cause for smug complacency. Certainly fans regard these results as trivial when they lose or portentous when they win, and they can laugh about anyone disagreeing, but if a team seriously wants to build on a title win rather than just sit back and enjoy it, it simply has to refuse to dismiss this kind of thing. Like it or not, that's the attitude that saw Liverpool amass 18 titles. I hope the 19th sparks the same attitude, rather than its opposite.

This is the team and manager that got to a final of a Champions League, only to see a clown throw in two goals and have their star injured within the first five minutes. They didn't sit and sulk. They thought, "fuck that. We'll win it next year." They picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and won the fucking thing a year later.

Then, that same year, already up against the most expensively assembled squad of all time, fresh off a record points haul, went the entire season with only 1 defeat, amassing 97 points.

Yet, that wasn't enough. They didn't sit and sulk. They thought, "fuck that. We'll win it next year."

Then they came out and smashed all sorts of records, winning practically every game, and won the fucking league with 7 games to go.

Shall I add the Europa League setback, too? They didn't sit and sulk then, either.

This team can bounce back, and it's pretty fucking hysterical to be questioning their mentality after everything they've achieved and after their third league defeat in two years. Despite how good City are, they've lost 12 in that same timeframe.

I think Klopp and the lads have earned enough goodwill to prevent us from getting hysterical and suicidal after one game, eh?

No it's about pride. We could have gone unbeaten all season. Now we've been thumped twice and we'll be thumped again unless there's a huge change in mentality. These twats have spent a week chattering away doing interviews, (during which many of them said what a huge boost to their sense of what they could accomplish beating City was) and/or getting pissed. This is totally unprofessional, and, worse still, an incredibly stupid performance. They'll probably walk off with smiles on their faces. I guess you'll join in.

Classy labelling them as "twats", by the way. Who needs City, Everton, United fans when you've got your own Reds fans talking about you like this?

No words. Just can't find a better word than embarrassing to describe it.
Best PL team ever? That boat has sailed imo.
At least we're champions.

If there was ONE game where you'd cut the team some slack, it's probably the one after they've just won the league with seven games remaining .

But what do I know ? I'm just a guy who spent the last 30 years looking forward to next season...

Salah did all right, I thought he was our danger man all night. I would say him, Fabinho and Hendo were our better performers on the day.

I almost gave him a 5.. but he had a really tame shot at Ederson and overhit a couple of crosses massively. But you're right on the balance of play he was our most effective attacker.
