Lucas - will he shine under Roy?

Will he believe again?

We all know he came with a rep of a box to box goal scorer in the Gerrard mould.

It's been stated that Roy can get the best out of average players and that he gives player the freedom to attack when we have the ball.

With that in mind could we see a more attacking potent Lucas next season?

Or will it be same shit different season?

Like a fucking bat signal.

Or, it's like that scene in the mines of moria where Pippin knocks the corpse down the well... and they start to hear the drums in the deep.

Edit: haha, I wasn't fast enough

He's a half decent footballer when played in a manner that suits him, it'll be especially interesting to seem him play if Stevie does leave

I hope he does, I'm not sure whether he'll step up though.

If he can't shine with Torres and Gerrard ahead of him then hes unlikely to shine next season either.

From the Danny Murphy thread:

"And so it begins. We had the same thing when Benitez joined, with Cheyrou and Letallec.

"Maybe we will now see the 'real' Babel/ Insua/ Lucas!"

GYAC, we've already seen the real Lucas. He's shite.

He's not going to suddenly turn into Steven Gerrard just because some old bloke tells him to attack more"

Ha I just read your post in the other thread and was like shite I should edit that with some reference to you.

So you firmly believe a player can not improve under better management?

I'm not expecting an Henry like transformation from average winger to best striker in the histroy of the prem or Viera from reserve DM to World class talent.

But maybe just maybe he could go to a 10 goal a season and 5/6 assist player no?

No

Lucas is by no means our biggest concern at the moment.

Decent squadie. Don't mind him to linger on.

Just to be clear... Steven Gerrard scored 9 goals last season and is credited with 7 assists.

Do you accept that management can affect player performance?

Not when the player is as mediocre as Lucas.

He might get slightly less shit. That's still shit, though

He's never going to be someone you'd build a team around, but if he can go from a waste of space to a reasonable squad player, then I think that'll be a fair improvement.

Not saying it's going to happen, but I'd give him the chance.

It's possible, I suppose.

Unfortunately the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title was 'only if he falls in a vat of shellac'

I googled it, and it's the only word of Danish I know, but I've got to say I'm impressed, all other languages I know the word for "No" are of a similar association, Nein, Non, Nada etc - ikke is cool.

Haha never thought of it like that.. we do however use the word 'nej' as well which is related to your 'no'.

- Do you wanna buy a Manc-shirt?

- Nej!

Yeah, he will. He would have shone under Rafa next season too though.

Oh, and Ngog will be prove great next season too.

Aren't you the one who kept saying we'd win the title last season, until about March?

Your posts are worthless

Late March, yeah. We're gonna win it next season though. This time I'm certain.

Lucas was made for Italy and Italy was made for Lucas. That's heaven for footballers like Lucas!

Too cryptic for you Robin?

Let's see if I can enlighten you - Lucas is an average "defensive" footballer with the speed of a tortoise. He is the quintessential anti-Brazilian footballer!

Hope that helps you 🙂

he'd better. roy hodgson of fulham would get fucking rid of him after 45 mins of one his displays. but he's at liverpool now, and that means lucas will play every week, every single week roy will pick him. i don't know why, but its going to happen.
