Too cryptic for you Robin?

Let's see if I can enlighten you - Lucas is an average "defensive" footballer with the speed of a tortoise. He is the quintessential anti-Brazilian footballer!

Hope that helps you 🙂

I don't think he was a defensive midfielder in Brazil, I think that was just Rafa's work.

Not saying he's a great attacking talent, but he was considered more attacking before he came to Liverpool... and I don't personally see Italian football as excessively "defensive". There's usually more flair pound for pound than the Premiership when I watch it.

There is, but when I've watched it that flair's tended to appear in short bursts and there's been a lot of crabwise defensive play in between.

Having said that, I do think Lucas was one of a number of players whom Rafa misused, though I'm far from convinced he'd have been good enough even if he hadn't been required to play a role which was essentially foreign to him.

totally agree JJ. He may not set the world alight when used correctly, but to be 21, move to a foreign difficult league, AND be played in a new position to the one you've played in recent years (and presumably th position you were bought to play in), surely will set you back a couple of years.

Saying that however i still think it's phil nevilles fault
