There are a dozen passes in that clip i posted that are world class and cut the opponents team to fucking pieces.

The ball he played down the line to set Suarez free in our first or second game of the season was as good as it gets.
He can pass plenty well enough going forward and in the opponents half.
lucas made a world class pass to gerrard v newcastle, that was one of the passes of the season. he needs to do that more often or make way for someone who will.
He makes plenty PLENTY of great passes.
So summing up your thoughts on Lucas. You admit that he is one of the best tacklers and ball winning midfielders in the league? Well you should because he is. But that isnt enough for you. So you admit that he is one of the best passers in the league? Well you should, because he is. But that isnt enough for you. Not enough that he does his job in the team superbly. Better than all of his peers. You want him to do more going forward too. To ping 60 yard worldy balls every five minutes.
Let me tell you Neil, if he did that you would be saying that isnt enough. You'd want him on the end of the fuckers too.

Let me tell you this Neil. If the five attackers in our team did their job HALF as well HALF of the time as the five defenders do. We would be top of the league.
but our defenders (and lucas is a part of that seeing as he is an out and out holding midfielder) aren't doing their job either because we are giving away leads. where were we be if we could shut out the game after taking the lead?
That simply isnt true. You are making up stats to suit your 'agenda' which is in no way a suprise to me.

So going on those stats who's the better player Lucas or Karl Henry?
Lucas, what makes you think otherwise ? The +1 pass completion (having played 2 games more) cos Lucas pretty much comes out on top on the majority of those stats vs Henry.

I cant believe this shit.

I cannot believe how fucking 'mad womans piss-esque' your argument is.

It finally boils down to. He 'as part of our defence is costing us leads' and i evidence it isnt and you go FUCKING BONKERS!!!

Alright, well since we both think each other is a thick cunt let's do this, one example:

Roy Keane @ 24. Had already been signed for a British transfer record fee by Alex Ferguson and had a title under his belt. As well as scoring more Premiership goals in his first home game than Lucas has in his four years.

Do you honestly think comparing him with Roy Keane makes sense in any fucking way ? Apart from them both playing in midfield and both playing in the Premiership there's not a whole lot in common between them.

Never mind the Zidane or Lampard comparisons

Oncy I could make a post picking out average players who were playing in the Premier League at age 24 who never amounted to anything more. It would make about as much sense as posting a list of players who were good / great and implying because Lucas is 24 and not very good now he will be great down the road. He won't.

He is what he is. A guy who is capable of lining out for a midtable club and being moderately effective while not really impacting games a whole lot.
Yup. Saw this coming.
Deflection.
Denial.
Feigned ignorance.
Absconsion.

Fine. You didnt suggest he isnt good enough passing forward, then you DIDNT change your tack to say that he is part of a defence costing us leads. Then you DIDNT claim incorrectly that he was responsible for us losing leads against 2 of the 3 teams we have conceeded leads to. And now you ARENT in any way denying any of this has taken place and going back to some halfway point you made 15 posts ago. This isnt in ANY WAY the way most conversations go involving you and tactics on SCM or i'd guess in life.

You're forgetting we're effectively a midtable club (anyone outside the top four for me is midtable), and have been during all the time Lucas has been a first team regular (finishing 7th and 6th in his two full seasons of starting). I don't believe that to be a complete and utter coincidence.

I don't think where you play has much bearing on what you'll become either, to take Scott Parker as an example why does it matter he was at Charlton ? He was dragging an average squad to the brink of CL qualification when Chelsea bought him (and Charlton were chasing Chelsea at that time). Lucas is doing nothing remotely close to that.

And I honestly do. I think playing 150 games for Liverpool is a much better career start than playing 150 games for marseille or Tenerife.
Maybe im wrong. It was only a sub text to my point anyway. My point is Lucas is ace.
So there.

I really don't want to get dragged into a conversation about the defense because I don't have strong feelings about the defense, we have one if the meanest defences in the league so Lucas has to take some credit for that but I'm saying we need more going forwards I even said earlier what my bottom line point was.
I dont hate Lucas I just think we need more through the middle of the park, I think we should pick and chose the games Lucas plays I certainly don't think Lucas should be starting at home against lower opposition.

You can't attribute success or lack of it to one players performance alone. It's a team game Ross and saying we finished 6th/7th because of Lucas alone is completely baffling. If he was so consistently the weak link why is it he ends up in the top 3 MOTM all the time ? Because everyone who voted for him was wrong ? Or just simply unbiased ?

Where am I attributing it all to him ?

I'm not. but he's a key factor in it all. Just like Glen Johnson.

Oh my sweet jesus. i left this thread at 1 page and expected it to explode

i just thought it was ross who was gonna do it, not spidey

Also, whas wrong with 5 players for defence and 5 players for attack?

I like a DM

Lucas is an accomplished player who is still improving and is still ONLY 24

i'd happily have him in our squad for the next 10 years if he keeps improving

We need to sell him to Chelsea in 3 years while his value is sky high (20m). That's all that matters anymore.

On that topic, what would Lucas fetch if we made him available ?

Who would buy him ?

And Pepe Reina. And Steven Gerrard. And Mascherano, And Carra, And Torres, And Skrtel, And Benitez ...etc....... all contribute to performances and results. 11 players, one manager = one team

For the record I would definately play Lucas home and away against the top 7 and probably every away game so Lucas would still be getting plenty of games.
