Well said Oncy. He's not stopped improving over the past two Seasons.

Looks better by the game and even looked like a Brazilian TWICE against the Chavs.
Yeah once out on the right touch-line ? That was superb but the commentators didn't even mention it, had it been Rooney or Aquero, Silva etc. then they'd have creamed themselves.
What did he do?
Tight corner, player on him and in front, pulled it back and ... fuck it I can't describe it, you just had to see it to know it was class and looked ...... well Brazilian ! Maybe there is a YouTube highlights of the match.
Exactly (or thereabouts) and one other time in central where he turned a man whilst with the grace of a ballet dancer swirled on the ball.

Less Hungarian. More Brazilian.

Someone made a gif of it on RAWK.

Page 141 or 142 of their "pictures" thread.

Appaz...

Lazy sod (and cheers).

Here it is:

Can't find a gif of his other show of skill but it was just as good if I remember correctly.

Definitely deserves praise for his efforts and persistence, let alone improvements made over the past seasons.

Cheers KHL.

Could you go to page 139 and see if there are any pics of GlenJo's cheeky grin at Henderson please ?

He does not know the meaning of U R it seems. Or spelling in general.

I'll go with the latter.

It's not the likes of the chelsea , united games that concern me with Lucas ...I know he'll probably do well in them for reasons already mentioned by others . And i do agree that against the 'lesser' teams it might not be his fault if we don't take chances or create enough . But.....he has been crap lots of times , regardless of what type of game it is , his age or position . So alot of the criticism he gets is fair in my opinion , just as alot is not and over the top .

Ultimately i do still wonder if he has enough to take us where i want to be ...the best ! . Maybe he does and i'd love it if he can because he loves the club and puts alot of effort in.

Oh but fair's fair , I loved that bit near the end of the game when chelsea cleared a corner and a few of them were charging him down. He just put on the brakes , pulled it behind him and let them fly on by ....Maverick and goose style !!!

Good call, but not surprising Lucas is one of my favourite players atm.

BTW Alonso was 22... 😉

Alonso was 23, and turned 24 in the November.
OK correct me if I'm wrong...

Alonso is born on the 25th of November 1981.

He joined in August 2004, right?

This should mean that he was 22 years and 8/7 months old. He turned 23 in November that year.

I don't know why but I've pure brainfarted all over the place and can't work that out.

What's more depressing than my brain not working is that I'm actually older now than when Alonso joined us.

Defensive-Mid-Comparison.jpg

Newcastle’s Tioté has the most clean sheets with four in their brilliant unbeaten run. Lucas and Song come into a joint second with three clean sheets for Liverpool and Arsenal respectively.

If we look at chances created, we’ll see that Song comes out on top with 13. The important thing in this statistic is that with Arsenal’s playing style, chances are created from all positions. Lucas comes in second with 10 chances; this will also speaks loads to how much we’ve changed into a squad geared for creating chances and scoring.

Passes attempted has Mikel at the top with 643 passes and achieving a 92% completion rate. Lucas is in second place again with 569 attempted passes but his completion rate is a bit lower at 85%. Song comes in third with 559 attempted passes and achieves the same completion rate as Lucas; 85%.

Defensive-Mid-Comparison-Graph.jpg

Lucas is the best in the league at 50-50 challenges on the ground by a good country mile. Lucas managed to win 60% of his 138 50-50 challenges which is quite a feat. Only players that get close are Parker and Tioté with Parker getting 57% of his 110 50-50s right and Tioté winning 42% of his 149 50-50s.
The best tackler in the league? You guessed it; Lucas. Now his successful tackle percentage may not reflect that fact but if you take into account of tackles attempted and the amount won, then weigh it up against the rest you’ll see that he does it best with 40+ successful tackles in 10 games

Lucas has lost possession only three, yes 3, times in 10 league games. Now again to put this into perspective, Carrick started one match and lost possession as many times as Lucas.

Defensive-Mid-Comparison-Pie.jpg

What constitutes as losing possession? If he's only lost possession 3 times, then surely his pass completion would be about 99%?

Or am I brainfarting again?

OK, so I am late to this party thread, but let me get the gist of this right..

Rafa was right to sign him and stick by him?

RAWK was ahead of the game in going easy on him, and playing up his positives, (based on the fact he would age and get better?)

the majority of SCM'er were overly critical and nasty towards him but are eating humble pie now?

OK! Super. 😉.

I think it means being tackled whilst in possession of the ball. Something Lucas used to specialise in!

TBF those are helluva impressive stats. I have noticed he has played a few more creative passes this year- 10 passes to create chances is good going from him. Lucas FTW.

Alrighty, nice to see people willing to change their views. I was never a pro or anti Lucas man myself, but additionally, he seems like one of the good lads, a positive force in the dressing room.

the chelsea game was made for him, however games at home which is all about breaking down the opposition (who will hardly venture into our half) he is a waste of space that could be taken by another attacker.
RAWK championed him when he was shit. And he was shit.
No now Hal, they were right and you were wrong. Deal with it. All hail the Rawkifacation of SCM.

Bring back Duncan Oldham and restore the balance of fan power online..

He's never been as good as RAWK makes out, and he's never been as bad as SCM says he is.
We established this years ago.

Can't we all just agree now that he is a good player with a great attitude, and support him as such?

Don't we have an Andy Carroll to gang up on now?

Lots of attacking players play with a DM who doesn't add as much offensively as others, and they still manage to break down teams. If our attacking players were better, there would be no issue.

You seem to be of the opinion that having more attacking players means we will score more goals, and that's not always the case. But, we would score more goals if we had better attacking players, better than the likes of Downing, Henderson etc.

So he was another good signing by Rafa, then. We're clear on this yes (Enjoying this way too much)
