Liverpool v Fulham - Match thread

I reckon i could play at the back against a Liverpool side minus Gerrard and Suarez and do reasonably well. How many times in a game do our midfielders make 3rd man runs beyond Carroll or Kuyt? Defendings ace when everythings played in front of you.

Carroll's looked half decent recently when he's been playing up front with Suarez. But, presumably for shits and giggles, Kenny decided to isolate him in a 451 with support from Maxi (who's probably pissed off and couldn't be arsed) and Kuyt (who's just shit). Shelvey didn't even play off him as he did against Blackburn and that can only come down to tactics from the manager.

I've seen nothing of the game....where did shelvey play then?? I thought logically he was playing off carroll

To me it looked as if Kuyt and Maxi were being asked to come inside - to negate the supply of crosses to Carroll - and then you had a flat 3 in the middle. Don't get me wrong, Shelvey was breaking forward but it seemed he had been told not to neglect his defensive duties against Fulham's midfield dynamos!

He was supposed to be playing behind Carroll I suspect but he just had a bad game. Inexperience I think.

But Shelvey is amazing? Surely he didn't just play shite?
Didn't see it, so can't comment. Heard he played shite/average so i'll go along with that.

I'm not worried if he performs badly thus far. he's still got youth on his side and he no doubt will improve with more minutes and when surrounded by better players

Shelvey was poor but at least he was trying the right things.
His movement was good and he never hid from the ball.
Henderson was just his usual self,90 minutes of nothingness.

He was shite.

And he capped it all off by rushing a very late free kick on the edge of the box, and putting it into row z.

And yeah, Henderson did fuck all from what I can remember. Again.
TBF he wasn't on in the second half

And RE: shelvey, he may have wasted a free kick, but at least he was trying something unexpected. Hes at an age where he's learning what will and won't work against PL opposition. Hes working the kinks out of his game at least. Henderson just seems content in his

Jaysus oh that was brutal last night. Slow, pedestrian, no movement, no shape, no threat.

Midfield and attack was all over the place. I don't know a fuck what goes on at Melwood but whatever it is, it isn't working. Of course it was a weakened team but even still, there's no sign of a game plan, of a pattern of play, of anything that points to us being a well organised, coherent team. 5 wins out of 18 at home, that's criminal and teams now come to Anfield expecting to get a result, that should never be the case and Kenny needs to take a lot of the blame for that.

There's no real point in singling out individual players for criticism because bar, Doni and Skrtel, the whole team was utter shite from start to finish.

Worst thing about it was Fulham weren't great either, they didn't need to be.
