christ what a fucking mad thread!

Fox man your either on a genius pisstake or clinically insane

There is a third option....

to be fair the name suggested was diarra and he's far from average.

If we sold Masher and bought Diarra, the difference in price would be a bag of chips.

Although I'd prefer a bag of chips to Lucas, so maybe we should look at it.
Ha. I'd prefer to play with 10 men.
I'd have sold Mascherano long before Alonso, but anyway.
Same here. Fox was saying we should sell Masher to raise funds. I replied that you don't sell your best players, which a club should never do obviously.

Of course the situation changes if the player wants to leave but under no circumstances should we sell a world class player (in his position) to raie money.

It's simple, Masher is one of our best players. You don't sell one of your best player.
Haven't read the whole thread but i'm sure the majority have already said that.
you need to read the whole thread to appreciate the point, ideal world improve on squad by keeping masher and buying attacking talent.

but.... we have no cash and if someone has to go as DB says it should be masher, he has a good value and can be replaced.

Our issue is scoring goals in tight games, we are shedding loads of goals anyway with Masher.

Two attacking quality players who provide assists, creativity and GOALS for Masher = Good Deal for the Club in its current financial plight
I'd never condone selling a first team player to raise funds. The money raised from selling Masher would be used to buy a replacement.

What players do you suggest we should go for to ensure we would replace Masher adequatley and ALSO get attacking talent?

On a serious note, while Masher is an important player, there can be no arguments about his form this season; it's been erratic to poor
Because he has an average midfielder playing by the side of him. Lucas.

I'm not saying that Lucas playing next to him isn't a factor, Grock, but Masher started last season appallingly too

I can't remember how he was at the start of last season, but I seem to remember him not being involved in many too many premiership games at the start of last season.

regards

I have never subscribe to the thoery someones form can suffer because of a substandard partner.
has sami's form ever suffered despite the numerous partners he has played with? masher's form has dipped because of masher and has absolutely FUCK ALL to do with lucas.

Absolute drivel.

The footballer you're playing alongside changes and dictates your own roles and responsibilities and sometimes puts you out of your comfort zone. Because Masher has been placed alongside Lucas, there is more emphasis on him dictating the play, setting the tempo and passing the ball - all things he finds extremely difficult.

To dismiss it entirely is insane.

not it isn't, if gerrard were playing beside lucas week in week out would his level drop? course it wouldn't. just an excuse to absolve players of poor performances.

a £20+ million man who finds dictating play and passing the ball extremely difficult !!

That's half my problem with him

the bottom line is masher is to blame for his drop in form, not lucas or anything or anyone else.

masher's drop in form - reason - 3rd world hunger

Steven Gerrard is arguably the most complete player in world football, Spidey.

Mascherano is one of the most specialised/limited.

If you can't see the difference then I can't be bothered pointing it out any further.

proffessionals should be just that, proffessional. they should concentrate on their own game and contribution (unless you're the captain where the team is your responsibility). I blame no one but masher for mashers dip in form.

I sometimes wonder if you even read other peoples posts before replying.

I'm sorry spidey, but that's a load of bollocks and given that you were randomly lecturing us all about how it's a "TEAM GAME!!!!" not long ago, I find the stance you've taken now, well... shit.

What's more, in other threads you've gone about the defence coming under pressure due to attacking fullbacks - I'll go find your posts and reply with "AGGER AND CARRA SHOULD JUST CONCENTRATE ON THEIR OWN GAME!".

Spidey, great players tend to play better when surrounded by other great players

While I don't absolve Masher completely, it is unarguable that playing with a useless cunt like Lucas has certainly had a deleterious effect on his performances

It is not the only factor, agreed, but it is *a* factor

And I'd quit now, if I were you, before you take another of your periodical and inevitable on-line shoeings, because believe me, keni and co are lining up to give you one

*beep* *beep* *beep*

okay I'll back track a bit, ha ha
I 'DO' believe it is a team game and I do believe that if someone isn't doing their job it puts pressure on others in the team, okay, fine...but where is the line drawn? doesn't mash take responsiblity for his performances?

That's got nothing to do with Masher's form as far as I'm concerned. As evidenced by the good performances in the last few games, also with Lucas alongside him. In fact, Masher is one of the few players on the pitch who doesn't need to rely on the rest of the team to have a good game. His role is very clearly defined.

*Was* very clearly defined last season, when the system was properly manned and functioning well. Take someone central (in this case Alonso) out of such a system and everything changes. No player is an island.

its a team game. its absurd to think that lucas isn't affecting masch.

that'd be like saying playing el zahr in gerrard's role shouldn't affect torres.

Heh...

When analyzing his performances, I guess you have to try and determine where you draw the line between personal and team responsbility... it's not always a straightforward thing to do.

As has already been said, he's has had some pretty poor periods over the last 18months.

+1.

In regard to Gerrard's level dropping depending on his partner.. well, England and Frank Lampard come to mind.

Not nearly as many as Kuyt who seems to get a free ride around here.

They say form is temporary and class is permanent.

Well Kuyt's form is when he's going through the 'good periods' (usually consisting of 10games per year).. his class is what we are seeing now.

Spidey has just never liked Mascher.. which is fair enough when valid criticism is levelled against him.

I think that is a position thing rather than a partner thing as lampard is clearly a good player.
