January Dealings

Couple more gems like Endo but in other positions and ideally 3-4 years younger and we should try make something happen. It’s clear we need those few extra bodies in the squad even if it’s just for sporadic cover.

I thought he was good again in the last game, even though Fulham lost.
Would definitely not mind it, but he'd be very expensive. He just signed a new long term deal that expires in 2028.
The only way I see it happening is if there's a release clause.
But we have other priorities imo, Robbo will be back soon.

We are never going to get at a Left Back - we have cover and cover at this position. Gomez is playing at a good level, and we already have the bloody scot, and greek captain(s) as first and second choice for that position. No way - it's bollox that report.

4 CBs is enough.

The only reason you are 'concerned' about Gravenberch is that he rivals Jones so you want to put him down.

Honestly - not worried about Gravy, he won't be a permanent starter, he is only here to give Jones a rest now and then. Already it is becoming obvious he lacks any intensity to his game. He's the type of player that won't be able to dig us out if we are in trouble.

What “cover and cover?” Tsimi is out for a long time; it’s only Gomez who is also needed at RB and potentially at CB if we have any more injuries - he can’t play everywhere at once! And Robbo is coming back from a major injury. I think LB is a position we need to invest in long-term anyway, so buying a younger player now would be ideal.

We have those kids, and no way do we spend anything more than a £1 on a LB, or even a RB. Sorry don't need it, if we sign that Inacio fella - we can stick him in that position if we are worried about putting one of our kids in that position.

He'll be miles ahead of Jones by next season.

Give Jones a rest to do what? Other than West Ham in the cup he’s done next to fuck all this season. He lost his place after a string of poor games.

My first choice, however, would be Miguel Gutierrez from Girona, if we can get him. Real Madrid apparently have a €8M buy-back clause, but it’s just been reported in Marca that they are fully focused on Alphonso Davis and won’t buy Gutierrez. Absolutely world-class potential; almost like a Spanish version of Trent from the other side in terms of creativity.

he’s fast and he’s dedicated. Scored a few nice goals as well

We need the Schmadman to do an “Endo” for a striker. Find a cheap marvel to bang in a few till Darwhizzy or Diaz either come good or are sold (hope it’s the former)

@binomial, @Frogfish

those people at Bayern were not dumb when they realized that Gravy lacked that "something" - I can see him as a type of player that will stand around and do nothing unless others around him are putting in the effort. He's that type of player - i.e. lacking the intensity. Yes we all love those turns and those few moments where we have witnessed him kind of gliding like ballerina/ice skater (take your pick) on the pitch, but like Szob - the final passing is miss-timed or ball given away. Of course you won't count those moments but you will for Jones. Here we have the problem, I will defend Jones against any player in our team because I think his skill level is the bar that the others have to reach - not the other way round. Jones provides a balance and people are realizing that.

The secret to success in football is simple: have absolute ballers in every position. Like this guy:

Linked to Man City for £35M.

Won’t Man City have first ( or is it second) dibs at him?

He’s quite fast but also a bit brainless, no?

Not the first time I read that this fella has "potential". But he is 26yo. Our Greek is 27yo. I can't see it happening.

Inacio must surely be a strong enough possibility this window. Left footed CB, 120 starts at 22 under his belt and heavily scouted by us by all accounts.

Straight clause of 50m odd and wages would be reasonable enough. Immediate quality rotational cover for VVD and possible LB cover (especially to make a 3 when Trent inverts) if needed.

We didn't get him when he was available for €40m, so no chance we will get him for €60m. Quansah is looking superb, and with Robbo coming back and Gomez as Utility, I really don't think Klopp with get a CB. The squad size suggests no signings no matter how much I would like to see in two signings

Music generally doesn't bother me but it was particularly bad in this one. Looks like an interesting player but surely if Man City want him, it's a done deal and we have no chance.

You know what guys ? - it's too complicated this signing business - let's not sign anyone - we have enough players, and also if we get injuries - at least we have our usual excuse of not being able to win anything due to injuries. @StevieM - I am trying hard to be a "Top Red" - is this a good effort ? - I think it is.

No - you’ll need to try harder.

i hear yah! Normally I am as animated as you are about signings and don't get me wrong I would welcome two more players (CDM and CB). The club spent £100m net in the summer, and that for them was a serious outlay. We knew the next window will be lean.
You and I predicted we'd finish outside the top 4 if we didn't sign anyone in the summer of 2022, we thought it would be injuries but it turned out to be shit performances that caused the downfall.
This season is very different, in the 4-2-2-2 thread I posted some stats which despite what our eyes were saying, we weren't getting lucky we were overall the best team in the league.

I actually believe this - and the reason being is because when I watch Man City and I watch Arsenal - they are even less convincing than we are, so right now as strange as it sounds - I would no swap ANY of our players for anything the opposition have, its like we got all the toys/tools we need to win this league - but it's not synced up that well, but there is enough of a sync to not lose games, and stay in the race. I say "Let the eye's not have it then".

Klopp must think his u21 CBs are better than Philips. If Gomez and Konate were not made from flower petals I wouldn't be so concerned. Before anyone mentions, Spanish Naby, he isn't back yet , and no one knows when he will be fit. I hope this decision doesn't come to bite us in the butt

Liverpool are set to send defender Nat Phillips, 26, on loan again in January after his spell with Celtic ended. (Liverpool Echo)

I would take Rodri and Doku and swap them for Diaz and Endo
