January Dealings

@bluebell - what is on our agenda for this January and what's the word on the street ?
According to some Journo £40m is the budget - Honestly I don't think Klopp will spend in Jan. He has Thiago, Spanish Naby, Robbo, Nats, Fabs C all returning in Jan.
I'd like to see 4 in MF (not including Trent) and imho we will see more out of Mac and Dom

City now being linked with Andre.

Can totally see this happening as Phillips will be sold/loaned out.

Or Fluminense and/or his agents just drumming up interest.

Question is, does he pass Klopp’s no-dickhead policy?

Good, he conceeded 4 goals against them, he looked terrible in that game, and to be fair not much in it between him and Endo. No thanks.

Also the links to us regarding Inacio...he is only 6ft1inch, thats the shortest defender we will have in years, cant we get someone taller, if only we went and got that VDV guy as originally linked, he is tall and lightning quick. Fucking hate this.

You can't buy these slow assed players from bullshit leagues at the best of times, but definitely not in January if you're expecting them to make a difference immediately.

What's the league most like ours? Germany? Endo comes in saying fucking hell it's all so fast and mad, it's taken me a few months to start getting fit enough. You might as well go get some stoner kid out of the Sunday league as someone from a South American side.

No. The party line is we are shit as we don't sign cheap options from South America like Brighton do, instead we sign them from Brighton at a higher price.

Oh no, that's the loon line

Every over priced player they have sold are not exactly setting the world on fire at Chelsea are they ?

Doesn’t it depend on whether anyone we actually want (as opposed to someone on Bluebell’s incredibly expansive list of players we should sign) is actually available - as in, we could sign him without being Boehley’d into paying a ridiculous fee.

Anyway - I think LB is the problem area - even with Robbo due back, he was starting to look like his best days were behind him and a long term successor should be on the agenda.

I wouldn't sign anyone. I think it would be knee-jerk. We have a squad and, barring a worldie signing, it would just be another number. We're ok for numbers.

As we progress into the season and the cup competitions - I just cannot see Klopp giving VVD a rest and given Matip is out - we need someone at least for that area and given that we will not have Matip we can't risk the rest of the season on our hopes on VVD/Konate/Q - obviously things may improve if Robbo comes back in January as we can then rest Gomez and use him as the defender if we need him.

I have though become concerned with Gravenberch - he is young and I think I understand why Bayern would not use him. He lacks a sense of intensity in his game.

A problem would only arise if one of the four remaining defenders gets injured. Hopefully Bajcetic is back soon because he's also a CB.

Bajcetic - a defender ? - you really are a converted "Top Red" FSG loverboy now. Has @StevieM and his crew been around to your house and had a word with you ?

Bajcetic played more games in the reserves/youths as CB than he did as a DM.
And last time he played for Spain, I think it was in October, he again played in defence.
So....yeah Bajcetic is a CB too.

A CB we can't really use in defence due to his lack of experience as a first teamer in that position. Sorry Edit - I say lack of experience, I should have said zero-experience as a first teamer.

4 CBs is enough.

The only reason you are 'concerned' about Gravenberch is that he rivals Jones so you want to put him down.

I thought he was good again in the last game, even though Fulham lost.

My first choice, however, would be Miguel Gutierrez from Girona, if we can get him. Real Madrid apparently have a €8M buy-back clause, but it’s just been reported in Marca that they are fully focused on Alphonso Davis and won’t buy Gutierrez. Absolutely world-class potential; almost like a Spanish version of Trent from the other side in terms of creativity.
