Proved the majority off us wrong? I'd say so...

He's turned into a terrific, adaptable and skilful player, who fully deserves to represent England at the World Cup.

Watching him at Leeds and Newcastle, I never really understood any fuss. But he's come very long way in the last few years and I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him at all, in fact I'd be pretty happy.

If he played for Rafa he'd be a wing back or something of the like.

MON (much like Ferguscum) manages to get the best of pretty average players.

Milner is a cut above "pretty average" mate, although I agree with your general point.

O'Neill especially injects a good deal of confidence into his players and lets them play their natural game.

When the occasional thread surfaced in the past about possibly signing him, I was one of those in favour and was usually flamed for it. I've never seen him as a world-beater, but IMO he's always been a steady and versatile player and he's now blossoming into something more. I'd say he's a cert for the squad for S.Africa and wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets his fair share of game time out there.
