Hull Post Match Thread...

(When this place gets really slow and quiet it snaps into Indulge WUMs Mode so efficiently it might as well have George Sephton making Operation Anfield-style announcements.)

That's the thing. I don't think he is WUM. It's not as if he was pulling a Modo.

On a side note, 'pulling a Modo' should be 6CM vernacular for when someone defaults into WUM
Mode.

Sorry Modo.

Shouldn't be at all surprised but i just can't get over how shit we were yesterday.

It's easy to thow around words for effect but it really was disgraceful.

Some of our lot need to get their head out of their backside and start putting in performances.

I'm starting to think that we maybe need to give Tex a chance.

I'd love to see McLaughlin give Johnson a run for his money at right back myself.

Probably easy to pick young players from the reserves out and hope they get a chance when some our first-teamers aren't performance.

After yesterday's shocker at Hull, we got a bit of a reality check and we're now starting to see our weaknesses (which have been there even when we were top of the table) starting to cost us.

Sure, we SHOULD have enough to pick up maximum points in our next two games but the bigger test will come at Spurs, Sunday week.

Such an important stage of the season and we'll see what this squad of players and indeed Manager is all about. If they're all going to bang on about making the top 4 then how's about play like a side that's capable of getting it.

I'm not sure what was worse, sitting through our worst 90 minutes of the season or working through the first 10 pages of this thread.

We had nothing out wide in this match and that's where it fell apart. Johnson was average, Flanno tried but isn't there yet, Moses was very poor (though I still believe there is quality there) and Sterling was all huff with no product.

I thought our CB's were very good. Gerrard and Lucas had no options - nothing out wide and the movement was rubbish. That left Suarez who was covered in defenders and wasn't really on song anyway.

We clearly missed having that extra attacking threat in Daniel but there's not much you can hope for if you can only use the middle third of the pitch.

Your over reacting, can't help but get the impression you have been waiting for a bad result like this just so that you can vent.

For what its worth i thought he inherited a complete mess, the team/squad was in freefall with no direction and seemingly no passion or care in the world what was going on, the last half a season was pure relegation form. 17 points from the last 18/19 games i think it was, Rodgers has done a good job in the 18 months since that, thats not to say he isn't making mistakes though, he is but he seems the type to realise them and sort them out.

That sums up Sunday's display nicely. Thanks.

Ryan mate, well said... we will win against Norwich thumping them so it will looking all right again 🙄

So we get beat once in a while and that's reality bites time, we go back on a winning run and it's papering over cracks and making everything seem ok again? Proportion the results and then go figure, and quit with the hysterical fucking guff.

"This clown". Really?

"It's looking like it was Martinez all along". You do remember what happened to the last side Martinez managed, right?

which is the way it should be . We're liverpool fucking FC ...we should be winning and not losing to shite teams who simply outfight us . Although i guess these days being Liverpool fucking FC doesn't mean much .

When Liverpool win, it's very quiet in here and few people want to talk about it.

When we lose, the forum goes into meltdown. 🙂

It's the British way. Negative shit is more of a talking point.

That said I don't think some of the posts we've read post Hull game are just relating to that one game. More of a general overview of what state we're in.

@Gary, there's no doubt we were poor as a unit against Hull but the only team, I believe, who've actually outplayed us in the league is Arsenal. It's getting a little far down the track to say I'm still not convinced by them. Top of the league and beat one of the best teams in Europe away. Maybe they're the real thing but I'll wait for them to visit City, Chavs and Anfield.

I genuinely think our performance out wide against Hull was a one off. What we need is a left back and a goal scoring midfielder. And Sakho in the centre of defense. I'm with a few others - I thought Skrtel was about our best save for two unfortunate incidents. Between he and Agger we should have an excellent partner for the big guy.

That said, I was talking about fitness after the third game of the season. I said then that the training better be good or our style would need to change. Neither has been done. I agree100% with Ryan on that and the backline. It seems blindingly obvious we need a dominant CB in the air yet he's rarely played. There's no partnership developing which is amplifying our defensive issues.

Nine points in the next three matches wouldn't be papering over the cracks - it would be top 4 form. We've shown that form more often than not. An LB and a menacing midfielder in January would make it much easier.
