He's capable of being a 25M+ player though.

That is shite

Grade A shite.

Unless you're bemoaning the inflation rate of transfer fees, then I completely agree
I don't think so. Remember the performances he put in when he first arrived? He wasn't just the MOM nearly every week he was the best player in the Premiership nearly every week. If it all comes together he can be a very, very good player - the club just has to figure out how to get the best out of him, because when Johnson is on-form, in an attacking sense, he's one of the greatest attacking threats in the league.

As it stands we only see glimpses of greatness and a few fuck ups, but there's no doubting his potential, IMO.

Potential in a 27 year old? Surely by then it's just inconsistency rather than potential

Are we talking about the same Glen Johnson everyone said was a massive liability 2 months ago?

At least have some fucking consistency.

This thread's a joke.
I've been pretty consistent with my opinion of johnson ........
Yep, I have too as well as being consistent in my opinion on all the "expert posters" who've been clambering over themselves to deride him for months. Utter bollocks.

He's far from the best RB in the world but the tripe that's been going on is madness. He's looked very good going forward and his so called defensive frailties (in one of the meanest defenses in the league) are much rarer than these posters want to admit.

As I said a few months ago. GlenJo has taken on the role that once seemed reserved for Lucas alone. Seems some people are never happy unless they're hammering some player about some perceived failing.

Johnson was one of our best performers last season and he's been good this season and getting better.

I dont even understand the critiscism of Johnson.
He's class. Hes a competant defender in the main part, and is amazing going forward.
All defenders make mistakes (Kelly vs City, Coates in most games, Skrtel v City, Agger v Newcastle, Reina v City etc etc) but only Johnson seems to be ONLY judged by his mistakes.
Its a bit shitty, and it seems to be a swell that rises every few months. I dont understand it at all.
And those who pour the critiscism on regularly and without cause are a bit out of order for me.

Carroll? Yeah he is looking lazy. Lucas in the past looked weak. And many others. Johnson does his job and more and gives everything in every game.
Scapegoats are us.

Carroll's laziness is the least of his problems and you know it Andy.

I read Dalglish today saying Carroll worked his balls off for the team the other night. This is a man who played alongside Ian Rush his entire career so he'd understand what defending from the front looks like.

That leads me to believe Dalglish is either lying through his teeth to save face on the 35 million pound joker he bought, or he's fucking delusional.

I'm not sure which is worse.
Pfft. Im not defending the cunt. Hes hapless.

I agree with this threadd....both for and against arguments. I can be persuaded to believe both sides where Johnson is concerned.

Oh, ok. Soz.
Dont get me wrong, i think I stuck up for him longer than most, but that performance against City was one of the worst ive ever seen in a red shirt. And this is supposed to be him showing us what he can do while Suarez is out.
Shameful. Id sell him for ANYTHING we can get for him. I can take a lot but not a lack of heart. A lack of guts or a lack of fight. Hes a massive pussy.

From day one I could see Lucas could play, and that he had ability. It's worth sticking with guys like that even when they're underperforming cos there's obviously a player in there.

I feel exactly the opposite about Carroll. He's a fucking awful footballer, and I could probably count on one hand the amount of times he *hasnt* looked hopelessly out of depth. He looks like a fucking pub player. He was always the wrong type of player for us too, never even looked on paper like he could fit into our system or style of play. And to boot he's a lazy drunk.

It's a fucking travesty on so many levels.

Bit of a dull answer Oncy, but its same old, same old isn't it... Not nearly as shit as the detractors make out (see best defensive record, international recognition, etc), not nearly as good as some claim - best RB in the league?! Even without Richards romping around looking like a colossus, Glenjos (albeit occasional) glaring defensive errors clearly disprove this.
Yeah of course. Hes plenty good enough though. And will make probably the same number of mistakes as Evra, Richards, Cole, Sagna, Walker or any other full back in the league.
