Insua turned 21 two months ago, and he's got his best years ahead of him.

I agree that he shouldn't be first choice, but we haven't got anyone better at the moment and I think it's too early to get rid of him.

There's room for improvement, his positioning mainly IMO but I don't see him as a liability like Traoré yet. I called him our weakest link after the Portsmouth game, but I was mainly comparing him to our starting defenders. Glenn Johnson is miles ahead of him but if I remember it correctly he was considered a liability at Chelsea.

Insua is good ball winner, a decent passer and his crossing is IMO better than Glenn Johnson's.
He won't get any quicker but like I said before, if he improves his positioning I don't think it'll matter. I mean Finnan wasn't exactly Carl Lewis.

He's had a terrible season. The abuse he receives although unfair, because it should be towards our manager for finding ourselves in this position.

Still, I doubt Insua reads any of it, so who gives a fuck?

He is a decent left back and is better than people make him out to be on this site

So let's get this straight... You don't rate Carragher but you do rate Insua?

If you look from the player's perspective, it's anything but terrible. This is the first season in his career when he established himself as a starting 11 player in the Premiership. Yes, he is one of the weakest links in the team, and opposing teams often specifically target him, but he still managed to maintain a decent enough level of performance to hang in there and not force his manager to look for desperate options (Masherano or one of the CBs at LB). If you can do something like that at 20, you are doing something right and you deserve all the credit in the world. I bet none of the people spewing abuse and hatred at the lad had accomplished anything comparable when they were 20. If they did, they would know better and they would know how much hard work and dedication it takes, especially if you are not blessed with amazing God-given talent or overpowering physique.

Sorry for getting a bit emotional here, but can't we just support the lad? I don't suggest turning a blind eye to his screw-ups and limitations, but why can't we, Liverpool supporters, get behind or at least STOP THE ABUSE of one of our own players who has shown nothing but exemplary attitude in all of his time in the club? I hate to sound like a moralizing old lady here, but Brendan and his clique really should be ashamed of themselves for creating this atmosphere of hatred towards one of our players. Good job, lads, you've really covered yourself in glory. I hope people around you will be more supportive of your efforts to succeed in life than you are towards others.

he needs to stop eating the pies, probably wont improve his ability but at least he'll be able to get up and down the pitch without looking like he will pass out, the fast bastard.

He's shit.

Called it when I first saw him.

Correct as per usual.

he looked decent when he was getting cameo appearances in the team last season, if you called it then then more power to you. its since being promoted to a full time regular he has come apart at the seems.

Players should click from the onset, show some fire, show some spark.

Are people forever going to use the 'Henry and Pires were shit in their first season' as examples to blur the realities of a situation?

Plug em in, if they're shit, ship them out.

Simple as.

Too many square pegs in round holes that has plagued Liverpool sides for decades.

He's a left back playing as a left back. Hardly square pegs in round holes.

So not only are they shit straight away, but they're played in the wrong position too?

I think you need to read between the lines there and hold fire on the "Players should click from the onset" comment. Are you always this myopic?

Hopefully he does come good but at this present moment in time (i.e. this season) he's not been very good. He's slow, skinned on numerous occassions and regularly caught out of position. I'd have Aurelio ahead of him any time of day. If he was ever fit.

I think the lad's had a break, a pretty bad one. A tough break, he's had to play when not yet ready as we've no other option.

He has been shown wanting on numerous occasions and needs a lot of coaching. He has a decent left foot and a good attitude but I don't think it's going to be enough.

I'm sure he'll be replaced in due course.

I don't agree with that at all. using that philosophy aqualini wouldn't have played on monday. people need time to settle, the one thing I insist on is despite someone struggling for form I want to see talent and I want to see potential that warrents sticking with them despite them strugging to find their feet.

Ok, which players were 'not very good' at first and turned out to be great later?

there is a story that bob told rushy he had an offer for him and then rushy pulled up his socks and turned his liverpool career around when rushy approached bob and said what about that offer you received, bob said there wasn't an offer, he made the whole thing up.

Ray Kennedy is hardly fair. He'd just won the Double at Arsenal so it was a fair bet he could actually play a bit, slow Liverpool start notwithstanding.

Probably harsh on Kennedy yes. Obviously he was very good at Arsenal, I just meant he struggled at us initially.

Wasn't Ray a striker with the Gooners though.
It was only when he moved to midfield that he kick started his carreer with us as far as I remember.
