Ferguson: Dalglish's handling of Suarez affair to blame for his sacking

He's pretty much confirming Suarez's account that Evra held his hand back though.

People who backed Suarez at the time saying that were decried as loonies.
Yep, Evra thought Suarez wasn't going to shake his hand and didn't raise his for a handshake. Suarez saw no offer of a handshake and offered his hand to the next player. Neither wanted to be the bitch ergo no handshake.

Unsurprisingly, Fergie lambasted Suarez in the after match interview and now using it as the reason why Dalglish got fired, not because Liverpool came 8th in the league.

The FA are hypercritical fools for insisting on the handshake even though they said it wasn't necessary for EBJT because they didn't want a 'scene'.

Anyone else not surprised at all of this?

I think it's pretty obvious it played a part in his sacking. But if we'd qualified for the CL he'd still be in charge regardless

Correct answer

He really doesn't like Suarez.
This is more an indirect attack on Suarez ('you got your manager sacked') than it is a direct one on Dalglish.

All the more reason we MUST keep Suarez. Anyone who rankles Fergie like this is a gift to Football.

I think, in retrospect, that Henry would have sacked Kenny even if Suarez had been as good as gold all season. Anything less than making the top four would have finished him off. Maybe not even that. He just wasn't wanted. But Ginsoak is a nasty little shit for commenting at all - when he was facing the sack, it was Kenny who spoke up for him. That's the difference in class.

Yup ...

The Horsefucker and his minions did a real number on Suarez.

That's actually why I watch that Citeh victory clip on Youtube every so often.

Watching The Chief Scum stop chewing his cud mid chew whilst that gormless Guile look alike Phil Jones looks around bewildered makes my day.

He will somehow put pressure on referees to blow against city more next season. Bet that.

if he wants to move on then he needs to shut up about it.

It's easy for you to say that, but you aren't the victim of a monstrous injustice. You haven't been fined, banned, and reviled by the media (except John Barnes) as a racist when you aren't.

He was sacked because we finished 8th and he bought flops. I'm pretty sure the "Suarez" incident played a very minor role in it all.

Ferguson's just a bitter old fucktard that needs to shut his cakehole and mind his own business.

It wasn't a factor and Fergie knows it.

It's all mind games and he's doing it right.
Winding up our top striker and stirring discord.

Like it or not he's the master at it and we don't even come close.
BR is right. We best do our talking on the pitch.

Sweet.

Trying to quantify how much it led to do with his sacking was pointless.

We know the following:

Kenny never fitted into their long-term strategy. His short-term success and status among the Liverpool fans forced their hand.
He spent a ton of money
He finished eighth in the league when it they expected top four.
He is perceived by the press and nation to handle the Suarez case badly.

Realistically, it's a bit of everything.

I do this his handling of the Suarez affair was a contributory factor to be honest. Maybe not the sole reason as Ferguson was attesting, but it certainly didn't do him any favours.

The fact that he was appalling at every other thing he had to do as our manager was the bigger reason I'd say.

Poor Ryan - so over-eager to have yet another gratuitous pop at Dalglish his post collapses under the sheer strain of its own incoherence.

Ha, I did struggle with that one on reflection.

The point remains though. He was utterly appalling.

It's probably designed both to have an easy pop at Kenny (which must be fun for him) and unsettle Suarez at a crucial time.

Or we just pointlessly scrutinize every word and the simple explanation is that Ferguson is a cunt and stuff like this is second nature to him.

It's hard not to think some hacks get together with Ginsoak every now and again and basically agree to give him carte blanche to have a pop at as wide a range of targets as possible. It happens at what are ostensibly quite run of the mill press conferences about specific matches, but the questions suddenly seem like a twitter Q&A session.

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez hinted at his contempt for the English press as he prepares to return to Old Trafford this week.

The Liverpool forward is part of the Uruguay team taking on the United Arab Emirates in Group A of the Olympic football competition in Manchester on Thursday.

The fixture represents Suarez's first visit to the ground since triggering a row in February by refusing to shake hands with Manchester United's Patrice Evra - the man he was found guilty of racially abusing in October.

But Suarez does not regard that as an unnecessary distraction ahead of international duty for his country.

"I am representing Uruguay and that's all that matters to me," Suarez said.

"I said before that the English press is what matters least to me. I am proud to represent my country."

Suarez also brushed off suggestions that his knowledge of English football will help him, having played in the stadium before for his club.

"I don't really know Old Trafford that well," he added.

"I have played one match there. I have played just once at many stadiums, so I don't have to give advice to anyone on the stadiums we play at.

"It's a great stadium. What we have to do is play football at a spectacular ground."

I am going to these rather odd matches at Old Toilet on Thursday. I will cheer on little Luis. I wonder if the Mancs will boo him?

I guess any excitement during UAE v Uruguay will be welcome. 😉
