Jamie has to be our fourth choice centre back from now on, loads of us have been saying it for months to the jeers of the "knowledgable" folk on here. Surely today highlights it more than ever, he gave them a goal, gave Jelavic a half chance at the end, and in general he just causes nervousness and indecision in our defence. Kenny is clearly letting the past and who he is affect him, as our too many people on this board, Agger and Skrtel, Coates and then Carragher from now on Kenny.

There's literally nothing to gain from playing him at the moment.

Coates needs time to develop on the pitch and is arguably playing better anyway

He is playing better and he'll continue to improve, todays inclusion over Enrique was a joke.

Someone already knows but someone needs to tell the person in charge:

He was very emotional after the match. Incidentally I thought Agger was just as culpable for the goal as Carra. Still dont understand the selection though.

I am pretty sure he knows that this is probably his last chance to feature in a final for Liverpool.
Why wouldn't he be emotional.

Played much much better in the 2nd half.

Delighted that he won and that he has a chance to get another medal.

Coates needs to play though.

Almost cost us the game, still want him around the club. But not playing. We'd have been much better with the Skrtel Agger Cb pairing or even Coates if you had to sit Enrique.

Look we have to be very careful about this. Can we make sure we treat the matter and Carra with respect please.
He has been on the wane for three years now and it's eventually caught up with him. I hope I am wrong but I think Kenny lets sentiment get in the way of his better judgement at times and that just should not happen.
I think Carra will hang his boots up at the end of the season and what a great pro he has been.
But to play him today with Enrique, wh granted has been off form of late or Coates who is the future was a big mistake, but we got away with it.
As has been said the incident was not all Carras fault but a couple of years ago the ball and Agger would have ended up in the stand.

regards

Welcome back Vlad,
Nice post and pretty much how I feel about the Carra conundrum these days.

Seconded (both the welcome back, Vlad, and the sentiment re Carra.
He's a legend and will stay that way.
However, he should not play in the final. I'd invite him lift the cup with Gerrard once we win it (and it looks to me like our name is written on it this year), and let him play as a sub in our final league game at Anfiled to let the crowd say a final thank you to an LFC legend.

What Carra apparently said this morning..................

Quote:
I know I am not first-choice but if people get knocks or suspensions I am there to come in and help and do as well as I can. I would never think about moving on in the summer, no, no.

Don't know why people are expecting him to retire...
Jamie has been a wonderful servant and I am sure he will want to continue to serve the club in whatever way he can as best he can.

I agree but he also loves the game. I think he'll just keep going and going and going and then stop, without fanfare

Is he really that much of a liability? Anyone would think we're talking about Traore here or something.

I'd prefer to see the other guys play as well for obvious reasons but it's good to have someone like Carra to call upon. I suppose the issue is more a case of Kenny using him a little more sparingly.
