You need to take note of the actual bid and not how AE have phrased it. It's £45m including bonuses. So it could be 35/38/40/42m whatever guaranteed. That doesn't mean an offer over £50m is now expected despite Joyce or AE taking literary licence to increase it. And the bonuses could include some ridiculously unlikely targets.

Personally I don't believe that Southampton would say £50m and then increase it when it's not met. Totally illogical.
