With the way things are going and the style of football we aim to play, are we running the risk of certain players suffering burnout going into next season?

Can is the main one that comes to mind. He's played pretty much every game this season I think and works like a motherfucker (those worries about work-rate and stamina seem to be consigned to the distant past now).

I don't think it comes down to our style of football we play or aim to play. Many teams in the PL have the same problems as us.

I think the reason is that the clubs now travel more during the pre-season instead of spending that time training.

I think the ones we have to worry about are really the front 3 players - who have to do the pressing more, I think generally Can paces himself well, and seems less likely to get the long term injury. The fact that he has lasted thus far without much time out suggests he is proper fit to play Klopp's style.

I think the fixtures and current injury status are more to blame then style of play.

Wednesday - early saturday - tuesday - friday. Its fucking insane.
With 11 players out injured its not difficult to understand why these things are happening.

This midweek game in January is a load of bollocks. The same month as fa cup. Could it not be played some other time?

So, we're playing friday and tuesday.
Play the kids vs Exeter. If we get beat then fuck it.

If we start like we started tonight and keep it up for half an hour we could do the job there and then. What we can't afford to do is start tentatively with an under-strength side.

We have to rest some players though. We cannot be even more decimated for Arsenal and United.

That should get the job done without risking Can or getting Milner injured again.

I'd say so, yes. Subotic is being mentioned in one or two of the papers and that would make sense IF we're satisfied on the fitness side of things.
