Liverpool are keeping tabs on Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, Sky Sports understands.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is drawing up a shortlist of targets to replace Luis Suarez, should the unsettled Uruguayan secure a move away from Anfield this summer.

The likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Suarez and should he leave Liverpool, Rodgers will be keen to bring in a big-name signing to help fill the void.

Yilmaz is regarded as one the best strikers in Europe after impressing for Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League last season and the Turkish international is thought to be on Rodgers' radar.

The 27-year-old scored 32 goals in 39 appearances for Galatasaray last season after arriving from Trabzonspor

Galatasaray president Unal Aysal recently admitted they would be prepared to sell Yilmaz for the right price this summer.

"We have set a price for Burak Yilmaz. We will only consider an offer which is in the best interests of the club and player," admitted Aysal.

"If Burak wants to leave and our transfer demands are matched, we could accept a deal."

Mourinho visited Turkey to observe Galatasaray in the league - while still manager of Real Madrid - before their Champions League quarter-final tie against the Galacticos.

"Drogba, Sneijder and Burak [Yilmaz] could play for any team in the world," Mouinho said in the lead up to the quarter-finals.

Burak scored 24 goals in 30 league - from 53 shots on target - appearances last season and finished the league campaign as the top scorer for the second year running.

The Turkish international striker was chosen by UEFA.com as being the Champions League Player of the Group Stages. The European footballing body also nominated Yilmaz as a candidate for their Team of the Year award.

Burak played a crucial role in guiding Galatasaray into the quarter-finals of the competition. He also scored scored eight Champions League goals in nine competition games - taking only 19 shots on target.

He does a shit Cats Tumble other than that he scored some tasty ones, I would how ever like to see how many chances he wasted in order to score the ones we saw(the misses are very seldom on You Tube).
Plus, if we wanted him to continue scoring those towering headers we would have to buy players who can lift the ball more than 2 meters off the ground. The only time that happens now is when Agger balloons one over from 40 meters out.
€18M euros is a lot.

According to Soccernet, he scored 8 goals in 31 shots (17 on target) in 8 starts and 1 sub appearance in the CL last season.
Can't find his goals-to-shots for his domestic league games though.

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness expressed interest in Champions League leading scorer Burak Yilmaz in a recent interview with Fanatik.

"I've watched Burak's goals," said Houness, "He's a very intelligent player and I know he's been unstoppable in the Turkish league.

"But look, if a player scores eight goal in the Champions League his quality is unquestionable.

"I'm certain all of our scouts have watched him play and have written match reports on him.

"If Bayern Munich need a player in that position he really is the kind of star play that we need to consider."

The Turkish international striker has now scored eight goals in eight Champions League starts a scoring record only matched by Cristiano Ronaldo in the European competition.

Burak's goal to minutes and shot ratio is better than Ronaldo. Burak has only played 677 minutes and taken 18 shots on target - Ronaldo has played 720 minutes and taken 41 shots on target.

The 27-year-old striker joined Galatasaray last summer from Trabzonspor for €5 million. Burak was last seasons Goal King, the prolific striker put away 32 goals in 30 games for the Black Sea Storm and has scored 16 times in 22 league games this season..
