One thing Valdes would give us is a keeper who understands how a defense is supposed to operate in our system.
One bite. No chance to prevent it. She's killed 5 to date.
Usually they get into the garden (we've walled and sealed it but they still get in over the wall) and that's that. I saved one from her jaws once - it was shook up but recovered.
She's a real sweetheart with people but just hates cats - and there are lots of feral cats here.

Corrighan destroyed many a decent keeper over many years. Utter tool. This one is no good either. Cannot understand how BR's night of the long knives with backroom staff didn't include Achterberg. Baffling.

Hmmm this one seems to have come from nowhere but I like it. I hope it happens. I also hope he replaces Mignolet as well.
Well, if his record killing cats is anything to go by, I think he'll push Mignolet hard.
I think Mignolet's definitely on borrowed time at LFC. I was surprised we went for him in the first place really as he's not the sort of keeper you'd think Rodgers would like.
I don't see any chance of him being here in 4, 5 years' time.
Incidentally, it's a long shot because keepers coming through PL academies all the way to the first team seems almost unheard of, but I like our young player Ryan Fulton. He might just have a chance, don't see many weaknesses in his game.

Would be a strange move if he was brought in just to be back up given the rarity of keepers getting long term injuries. And if we did suffer one, Valdes is a free agent meaning available at any time. I would think he comes in to challenge Mignolet and shove a rocket up his arse.

I think its a decent move if it comes off, Valdes isnt the best keeper around by any stretch of the imagination, but the side of the game where Mignolet is badly lacking, playing the ball out from the back and sweeping behind a high defensive line are what Valdes is all about. Valdes is very much the sort of keeper that would be suited to Rodgers system and I think he would help Mignolet add awareness to his game.
So far Mignolet has been a sort of Shay Given type keeper, capable of outrageous eye catching saves but not totally in command. I think if we are going to keep playing the possession system Rodgers is trying to implement then Mignolet will have to take a dramatic step forward this season or he'll probably be replaced. There are a number of keepers in the Prem I would take ahead of Mignolet right now but I reckon Rodgers will give him another season to grow into the role and see if he matures.
