29 goals in 81 appearances?

In the league 19 in 70appearances (although no doubt, a lot of those were sub appearances in the beginning)?

19goals, 3 assists, in 4344 minutes of football. So about 48 full games.

Decent. Not extraordinary. I'd wonder how he'd work WITH Dan Sturridge.

Personally, I Ithink Benteke would work better with Origi and Sturridge than Berahino.

Although Berahino might work better with Coutinho and Firmino.

Many where sub appearances.. I worked it out on an average like you did overall for all competitions.. (I may be slightly out)

He is Only 21.. so definite room for improvement..

Austin on the other hand is 26.. potentially at the height of his game

Stupid Comparison..

Why couldn't we sign him.?? if we offer the money, I don't see why not.. He would cost around the same as Villa want for Benteke

Neymar on the other hand is out of our league

Bentekes price must be soaring. Lacazette is not for sale for less than €50m according to Lyon.

If we were able to sign Lacazette we'd have done it by now. There's nothing standing in the way of us spending 30m on him and giving him 150k a week.

Why isn't it done, if he is available to us?

£35 million is the figure being touted..

Champions League Football and probably because we wont show him the money and pay more than the going rate to entice the player to come over here.. So we go for a play 'safe' option instead..

So the player doesn't want to come?

That makes him unsignable.

And I'd argue the figure mentioned by the club president himself is more relevant than any other.

It's not really a "play safe" option, it's a more realistic option as in, the player is likely to want to come here. Lacazette is one of the most coveted strikers in Europe at present, if he's available for anything remotely realistic, clubs will be all over him. You make it sound like money is the answer to every scenario, it simply isn't.

which as @Woland states is £35 million

It hasn't stopped other club signing players without champions league football.. I don't care what anyone says... Money Talks...

To be fair, I've championned Lacazette basically over the Suarez-esque feel I had after watching his YT videos. However, I've never really watched him play a full 90 minutes . And his stats before the past 2 seasons have been uninspiring. We should be a little wary of signing him for so much money. Honestly, if Arsenal and Wenger aren't interested (when they clearly need a CF and he's so attainable), then I'm not sure we should be.

Your right not for every player.. you have to have boundaries.. If we did that for every signing we would go quickly under..

I am talking about making a marquee signing.. giving a statement of intent.. A player to get you off your seat..

We continue to spend like a top 5 top 6 club.. we will finish 5th or 6th every season..

Unfortunately its the way the game has become..

Au contraire, we spend top 4 money on 10th to 6th level players

A statement of intent my arse.
I hate that shit.
We couldn't hold onto a young player who thinks a shower of Johnny come lately's are a bigger club than us.
If Firminho is world class he'll be gone within 2 years also.
The same would happen with Lacazette.
It's pointless these statements of intent.

If Firminho is world class he'll be gone within 2 years also. - I'd agree with that, if we don't make Champions League Football.. Consistently
The same would happen with Lacazette - If we don't start winning things & making Champions League football consistently
It's pointless these statements of intent. - Worked for UTD, Arsenal & Man City..

How did it work for them?
United-Won nothing and a million points off winning the title which their extravagant spending would expect.
Also going to lose their best player if Madrid want him.
Ditto City and they were battered in the Champions league too.
Arsenal won the fuck all cup that no one gives a shit about anymore.
Hardly worked so did it.

Arsenal Champions League year upon Year.. and since buying players 'statement wise' have won 2 trophies..
City gained Champions league qualification by spending money on key players to get there.. Tevez.. and have built from there..
UTD mission was to get in the champions League for this season... They spent money.. They got there.. UTD being UTD will now build on that.. (though arguably with that our demise probably made it too easy for them)

So we have the money. He wants to leave, we need a striker.

And either we're not interested in the best available striker, or he's not interested in us.

I think I know what the answer is. This is Depay mark II.

Benteke or Berahino are good options at the right price, I doubt we'll get them at the right price though.

If you think that counts as success then I'll leave you too it.
What's the point of being in the Champions league if you have no chance of winning the thing.
They are spending as much as Barcelona,Munich and Chavski since these 'statement of intents' and have fuck all to show for it.

Yeah, it was those big statements of intent Di Maria, Falcao and Shaw that got United back in the Champions League.

It's a fucking tired cliché for people who need to feel excited about transfer activity.

Thats like saying whats the point being in the FA CUP if you cannot win it...

To compete.. and attract the players long term and get this club back where it belongs.. because without a doubt, without champions league football we have no chance long term..

You've just totally contradicted yourself in 2 pages so I'm gonna stop.
It's pointless.

What is quite interesting with that stat.. He scored 14 of WBA 38 goals.. that's like 2/5ths of their goals where scored by him.. How would he fair in a better attack minded team with more opportunities being presented to him ??

Oh FFS. You have absolutely no idea what our policy is , who we've approached and who we haven't or how much we're prepared to pay. Instead you just make up shite as you go along to 'reinforce' your stance.

WBA wanted 25 mill for Berainho. Thats the fee we want to pay for Benteke.
Both have 2 years left on their contracts.

If it ends up at around that fee I'd take Benteke, who for me is a much better player.
Berahino offers nothing different than Ings/Origi imho. Certainly not for 20-25 mill.

And he sounds like a Sterling type cunt.

Nobody has clue what our policy is... I've made nothing up, just speculating like everyone else on here..

So we should just show him the money, like the million examples where we've shown players the money and they've opted to move somewhere else because of higher wages, CL football, location, their wife, etc.
