His signing is looking like an expensive mistake. He’s not the type of player we need and yet we have probably paid double the odds for what he is worth. As said earlier, he will chip in with goals, like virtually anyone decent would do playing up front for us, but he shouldn’t be considered a long-term prospect for what we want up front. We’ve cocked up.

Hes always scored in spells and then gone quiet for a bit so his current run is no surprise. Its not like he became a bad player when we signed him or that hes a moron like Carroll we simply arent playing to his strengths. Hes not suited to our style of play he needs too many touches and he isnt a natural finisher.

I dont think we can coach any of that out of him at this point but hes the sort of striker you need to build your attack around or its not going to work. His return isnt worth that investment for us so I expect we will probably cut our losses and move him on during the summer for £20m

He is a natural finisher when he doesn't have time to think and just reacts on instinct. It's when he has time to pick his spot that the problems arise.
