in 33 appearance.

Daniel Sturridge.

Incredible stats. Ronaldoesque/Mess-like levels of performance.

If I recall correctly, at this point in his career he is ahead of the like of The King, Fowler, Rush, Torres and Suarez.

I never imagined he would be this good. I bought into the whole - he has a poor attitude thing - nothing could be further from the truth.

The scary thing is that he can ONLY get better!

It is all about staying fit. He's an outstanding striker. Fuck Salah. We bummed Chelsea by getting Sturridge.

I fucking love his instant control of the ball in any situation.
It's rare you see an English striker with his array of skills and awareness.
He's absolute magic at times.

Anyone know what the LFC record is for combined league goals between a striker pairing in a single season?

some on twitter saying he has scored 27 goals in 34 rather than 25 in 33. Offal and wiki have different figures. Can someone confirm and if necessary amend thread title

I'm going to have a wild stab in the dark and plump for the accuracy of the offal over that of Wikipedia.

His body movement is a bit weird. He's very languid and I think that makes him look like he isn't trying that hard.

I love we've got him and it makes the thought of a Luis-less life more hopeful. Just need some of te midfield to chip in and we could still be ok.

The only thing stopping him from being a world class player is his head/attidude

i'm pretty sure it's 27 from 34 after tonight . Which is pretty special .

and i don't think his attitude is too much of a worry. He generally works hard and puts a shift in and has been unselfish a few times this season , he just made a mistake here when he lost himself a bit after a bad peno miss . Suarez is equally selfish at times .
He's still pretty young and learning .

He's fucking boss. His scoring rate has been unreal since he joined and like others have said his touch, his hold up play and the way he makes space for himself are all really impressive, he seems to hardly ever lose the ball.

His goals and appearances break down like this:

Prem: 24 starts and 5 sub appearances; 23 goals
FA Cup: 3 starts; 2 goals
Carling Cup: 2 starts; 2 goals

Total: 34 games (29 starts, 5 off the bench); 27 goals

Cheers for that.

Daniel Sturridge now has 27 goals and 6 assists in just 34 #LFC apps. UNBELIEVABLE!

He's a god lover, there's nought Wrong with his attitude. If he was any more positive, he'd be an ion!

I always wondered why players who thank and credit god the way Sturridge did after his 2nd don't equally point up and curse and blame god when missing a penalty.

I must be getting trolled.

He's performing like the two best players in the world and he can only get better.

Let's assume that is actually possible.

He's 24 years old, injury prone and genuinely a top notch striker. Can anyone guess what other LFC striker people could have said those things about ?

You're right Ross. We should sell him now while he's at optimum value.

No, we should just be realistic. He's great, but fragile.

If I was selling him though I'd love to sell him to red Maradona. I'd tell him by the time he's 28 and at his peak Sturridge will be scoring 2 goals a game on average.

What I love most about him he has such self belief that even after a long spell out he comes back in like he never left and just bands them in. Fowler Owen etc never did that. They always took time to get back up to speed.

We're quite good at bumming chelsea, with Sturridge and Torres. I think this is why they've try to push their duds onto us in cole and moses.
They can't escape that from the fact for the 50mill they gave us, they got Torres, and we got Suarez and Sturridge.

The reasons for Fowler being rusty were well documented, in Owens case he often seemed not to quite trust his hamstrings after an injury and it would take him a while tp get back into the old rhythm. Sturridge seems to be very professional in his attitude and just always backs himself, its a fantastic trait for a striker to have

I wish I could forget Andy Carroll that easily

The ability of mordern teams to defend is almost worthy of pity. The scoring stats of messi, suarez, sturridge and ronaldo does not make them unreal.

Fucking Giroud is banging them in too. Suso is assisting for fun in Spain. Etoo gets hattricks. For the love of God even Adeboyar is getting stats on a level with Shearer. Its all meaningless. Defenders these days are utter shit.

Sturridge as good as he is still could not lace Fowler's boots.

Let's pit him against the best the other teams have to offer. League careers, sorted by games played:

P G A
Aguero (City) 81 50 13
Rooney (Mancs) 79 48 23 *current + last 2 seasons
VanPersie (Goons) 63 48 16 *last 2 seasons with Gunners
VanPersie (Mancs) 50 34 10
Bale (Spurs) 34 21 4 *last season with Spurs
Sturridge (Pool) 29 23 6

Looks pretty exceptional to me. Already better than Bale's best stretch of production, and that chimp won the POTY award with that record. Has 21 games to net 11 goals to match Van Persie's United record. Van Persie's Arsenal record is very impressive though and it's going to take some mean streak to match that (i.e. 25 goals in 34 games).

I was at Anfield on Tuesday and, once again, Sturridge made a big impression on me - he is playing with such confidence that you don't expect him to miss when he gets a chance - but, for some reason, I didn't hear his name being sung during the 4-0 win over Everton.

It left me wondering: when are Liverpool and England supporters going to start appreciating his exploits?

He's scored 27 goals in 34 appearances since he joined Liverpool 12 months ago. That's a phenomenal ratio but it still feels at times that he has question marks hanging over him.

On a bad day, he can look lethargic and when he first joined Liverpool, I wondered whether he would spend a lot of time in the treatment room.

But in the past year, he has played regularly and has been one of the top players in the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney has been hailed for his excellent form this season and has scored nine goals in 18 Premier League games but Daniel's figures are even better, with 13 goals in 15 league appearances.

His consistency in the penalty area has been faultless. If he continues in this vein, Liverpool will have an outstanding chance of finishing in the top four.
And if he carries it into the summer, England's hopes at the World Cup will be significantly improved too.[/article]
