agreed. fwiw i don't want him dropped, not sure if i made that clear before, although i do think we should be actively looking for the right time to phase him out, but i'd be saying the same of any ageing player.
as for his critics being the same old usual suspects who only care about a defender's technique, well, i'll have to bow to superior knowledge. i really wouldn't know.

PErsonally i'm up for phasing him out as the sooner we can bed in coates/agger or skrtel/agger or whatever permutation we eventually decide to go with, then we'll be the better for it.
Realistic title challenge may be too much (for some people) this season, so we could arguably use this time to make sure we're as strong as we possibly can be without having to rely on older stars
