Babel only coming on at 82 mins sums everything up. This is why we re shite
The idea that Babel might be our saviour is symptomatic of why we're shite, but neither that nor the minute of his entrance into the match is the *reason*.

Agreed

You're missing the point. Our manager waits until the 82nd minute to make a substitution like that when its far too late. Kuyt had been wank all game but is left on and then to give our most potent attacking sub 8 minutes to make an 'impact' is too little too late. We should have been going at Wigan right from the start.

Maxi Yossi Kuyt

Could there be a slower attacking 3 in the league??

Waste of fucking time.

it isn't about pace of the player its pace of movement. how many pacy players in arsenal's midfield?

Part of the reason that we've struggled against Portsmouth earlier in the season and Wigan last night can be attributed to pace actually. Both teams are full of athletic players and they just went past our players like they weren't there far too often.

Obviously good possession, tactics and organization will negate issues like this, but hey, it helps.

Benitez looks shellshocked in the post match interview. No excuses from him.
No excuses?

Did he not blame the players?

It`s Houliier all over again, never takes any blame himself.

People argue that Babel wont be a saviour, but when the team went 60 minutes without looking threatening whatsoever its time to change the attacking options.

*liverpool football try outs*

rafa - 'hmmm, 100 metres in 10 seconds...I'm not sure you will fit around here'

Glen Johnson is on the bench, which implies that he's fit. If he isn't fit, he shouldn't be on the bench.

But if Johnson is fit, why is Mascher playing right back again?

:🙂
I refer to my post on this thread before the game.

Has anybody any theories why Rafa decided to play Mascher out of position again when Johnson was available? He brought Johnson on later in the game but I think we might have had more of the game in the first half if we had started with the right formation.

I was wondering about that all night. About the only thing I could come up with was Rafa's rigidity of thinking, as in: Johnson (or any other player) has been out through injury, therefore he can't play 90 minutes first game back.

Gerrard could be up in front of the FA for this reaction to his booking...

Quite honestly, it would be so refreshing to have a manager who would do the obvious thing! I would settle for Alex McLeish!! 🙂

Aquilani gave the team exactly what we needed, quick passing and movement. Shame Rafa was so gutless and no-balled that he didn't start him.

Same can be said about Babel, he should have been on for Kuyt at half time.

I wouldn't dismiss anyone either mate. I know we're a big club and have high standards, but doing a better job than Benitez right now doesn't mean you have to have won loads of trophies.

You just have to know how to get the best out of your team, make the right, obvious decisions and not buy shitcunt players for lots of money.

Fulham, Fiorentina, Lyon, Birmingham, Blackburn, they haven't exactly go loads of pace but we struggled against them

McLeish was going to pay £10 million for Ryan Babel. He's a shitcunt player.

There's a reason a majority of Liverpool fans would rather see him go abroad.
