Liverpool v Fulham - Match Thread

Don't think I ever heard of one of the Fulham players and they are making us look like an under 14 team.

It's like we are always 1 step slower, in reaction, in mind, in everything, against everybody.

i'd put milner at RB, he's better than Neco (terrible decision re: Hoever) and bring in ... uuuum ... yah just forfeit 1-0.
We won't score, and a 6th straight defeat at Anfield.
Let that sink in - we were never this embarrassing even under Roy Hodgson at home ... it's is just unacceptable.

Sorry, but Lookman would DESTROY Milner worse than Neco. And that's saying something.

The only reason we get away with Trent there is because Henderson is out there, and we have Gomez/Matip inside of him.

That was coming in fairness... though a bit shit for it to land just on the stroke of HT.

It's funny that not so long ago the thinking was that there was no real deadwood left in the side and how great a job everyone has done.

The over-reliance on Klopp and a subset of the squad has more than likely killed this 'cycle' off. Edwards and co or whoever is charge of strategic recruitment needs a fucking slap.

Bold take. I think losing all the time is bad also.

Yes, comparing a loss here or there to 6 straight losses at Anfield with no goals from open play etc.
Remind me again when we've been this bad in our history?
This is the worst run of Liverpool form at home ever. Let that sink in.

It's interesting to see Mo getting stopped by almost every defender in the past few weeks, and our opponents have randomly just glided past our right sided defender at will.

That give and go from Keita is exactly what we need at the top of the box.

This is why I don't understand the fuss to spend all that money on Mbappe and Haaland. Its the midfield that needs the investment. Full force Keita is a gift but at the moment we are more likely to see unfit Keita or injured Keita. With Gini probably about to leave as well midfield is the area of concern not a defence. Also Im not 100% on the hype train with Curtis Jones. He looks like he could go through the gears and end up a great player but equally, he could just turn out average... Our supposedly other flair/creative-based midfielders Shaq and Ox both flatter to deceive they arent match winners, they aren't players that are good enough to influence the game enough.

So priority areas to spend money on next season for me is

  1. Midfield
  2. Defence
  3. Attack

That's not the first time he dallied on the ball and we got punished.

This is why I don't even have to think hard to know that Salah isn't anywhere near as good as Suarez. Salah has made the absolute most of his ability, and we've made the absolute best of it in a system that has really only offered him the ability to think aggressively all the time. He's still the biggest threat on a team that doesn't have much, and he's been brilliant for us at times, but he's fundamentally limited in some ways technically.

I've been critical lately of Alexander Arnold constantly being out of position but with Neco doing exactly the same thing in leaving far too much space in behind him maybe they are playing to Klopps instructions. Either that or they're both shit at defending.

At Christmas, we were top and seemingly strolling to another title. We then started losing in the virtually the same manner for the next two and a half months with no inclination from the manager to change anything. I don't see how this is Edwards' fault.

Milner, Neco and Shaq have been shite. Keita and Jota totally out of the game because everything is going down the right. Why? Mo is supposed to be centre and Shaq. on the right but Shaq. is so deep he could be playing DM.

We also have a tough time getting the ball out of defence who simply don't seem to have the technical ability to play it out and we're getting stuck back there waiting for Fulham to pick up possession.

He doesn‘t have a right leg for starters.

Yup, but until this year, the team had performed in a way which allowed us to take advantage of his talent.
We can do it again next year hopefully if we don't sell him.

If we had Fab and Hendo back in mid we will be much stronger. The rot started from VVD being out and that spread to the rest of the team.

We are no longer as effective as a unit.

What is the point of Gini in a team like this? He doesn't drive the team forward, he isn't a destructive force shielding the defence.

Piss poor Fulham the better side.
Actually the commentators were reeling out the Fulham stats and they are not those of a relegation threatened side (they must have been very shit in the first 10 games or so). 5 defeats in their last 18 games and conceded only 11 goals in those 18. Solid mid-table side.

Our line is just too high. Again and again a long ball to the wing and we are done.
Players have too much space to run into and our defenders can't defend that with a makeshift defensive unit.

I think we should sell him if anyone is stupid enough to think he's "world class," whatever that means. But it's not about selling him, it's about who we buy. Also, I doubt it'll be in our hands, he'll probably force a sale, and that would make sense, he's not going to be around for the end of this rebuild, so why suffer through this shit. He couldn't have done any more for us, really.
