Wolverhampton Wanderers v Liverpool - Match Thread

I thought despite his early miss and a couple of misplaced passes in the opening few minutes, Mane had his best performance for a while. He carried the ball well and looked to beat his man on occasion, something he doesn't appear to have done very much of late.
Jota led the press really well in the first half and his direct style is something we sorely missed with him out injured but he faded in the second half.
Trent was decent too but I thought all the midfield were poor.
Thiago was busy but wasteful, coughing up possession and making his obligatory needless fouls
Gini was quietly quiet and Fabs was uncharacteristically sloppy at times.
Two teams that were so good last season served up really poor fare last night.

Haha weird that. I didn't think Thiago was a good idea when we signed him, still not sure he is, but no need to go flouncing off because someone disagrees

Hobble over what kind?

We need to make up 5 pts in 9 games. Hobbling won’t get it done.
I would suggest the manner is irrelevant if stitching a side together like we have done over past couple of fixtures gets us into the top, likely by a point or possibly even GD

I actually said I'm not convinced he's right...for us. I'm aware of his achievements in the game. I know where he prefers to play. Why did you start your post with the.."Haha..JC.." Very strange way to reply. And you didn't put forward any relevant point..I know his history..
So you know where he prefers to play and has built his career/reputation yet still come out with this gem : The Boss has to either play him as an out and out holding player or not at all ...

Nuther half head post. I know his history. Thiago doesn't compliment this team. He can play, high energy etc..you probably haven't got a clue about his best position...and DO NOT endorse another posters pointless remarks as if he has made a relevant contribution to the debate..

Haha Jesus Christ. You'd think Thiago was some newbie not one of the world's Top 10 players (according to UEFA last season). And yeah, he's not a DM.

I wish you'd stop with "according to UEFA" stats crap.

Based on the evidence so far, he's clearly a talented player with top class technical ability. The flipside of that is he's a red card waiting to happen and he's complacent with the ball at times, causing potential opportunities for the opposition.

None of that is wrong. He's proven himself elsewhere, he's now in a different league and, while the idea of him ironing out those few chinks is mouthwatering, he's also 30 years old and he's trying to learn how to dominate midfield in a completely different league. On the evidence so far he's a bit lax and a bit of a liability.

So why not just address and acknowledge the problems, instead of coming back with "he was the best player in the World last season" type bollocks. I'm pretty sure you've praised other players similarly in the past, based on what they did elsewhere in completely different leagues. It's nauseating. Just call it as it is. Call it as you see it, instead of what you've read in FourFourTwo fucking magazine or whatever.

It's dull as fucking shit, fan girl bollocks.

Well done for completely, mind-numbingly, missing the context in which I raised that. For clarification (which I didn't think was required but hey ho) it was in reply to the equally mind-numbing statement ... he isn't a playmaker nor an effective attacking midfield player.

So it wasn't about his (admittedly awesome I do have to say/drool over) career stats. Which of course I glean from reputable football stat sites (or Binny) not magazines (as if I'd pay for a magazine FFS).

As for the ... I'm pretty sure blah blah .. as if you being 'sure' is acceptable proof of anything. Prove it with quotes or shut the fuck up with that crap.

Good result!
Nice that Traore was shite. Now Klopp won't think about signing him again.

Oh, and Thiago is kind of a playmaker, like Alonso, only a bit more advanced.

I think the whole midfield was off yesterday. Thiago was busy and had some key involvements but lost possession. Fabinho was off pace which is pretty normal after being injured for a while and being back for one game. Gini was anonymous but worked hard - as usual.

Regarding Thiago. He's one of the best midfielders around in his position and its quite obvious he's dead good.
He's been struggling, as the team have, and we probably wont see the best of him until next season when the first team CBs return.

I thought he was outstanding against Leipzig midweek, but struggled yesterday as the whole midfield did.
Hopefully we'll see more good performances from now and until the season is finished. And then have him contributing like he did for Bayern next season when the balance in the team is more back to normal and he has adjusted to league and how we play.

Dont forget that there hasnt been any normal pre season, and next to no training during the season.
We've seen with so many signings that it takes time to adjust to how Klopp wants the team to play and to gel with the tactics.

Its been even tougher for Kabak. So all the shite he gets is unwarranted to say the least. Talk about being thrown into the deep end.
