You cant win as a footballer. Michael Owen and Paul Ince talking about Mane's honesty and saying that he needs to judge situations and go down.

I don't think Mane needs any advice from ex pros. Not withstanding a recent loss of form he"s one my all time favourite players to put on the shirt.

Normal service has not been resumed but at least we have stopped the rot. Still not convinced about Thiago. Hasn't done anything of note apart from some clumsy fouls. The Boss has to either play him as an out and out holding player or not at all,, he isn't a playmaker nor an effective attacking midfield player. Hard working but we need a bit more.

Jury's still out he"s had barely half a season of football in the PL.

He isn't a defensive midfielder. He's a playmaker

Yeah but he's not Dele the Diver, he's going at the ball concentrating on that ball, get in a shot not one eye on the con, looking for that slight contact. He's one of the few players who DOSN'T try the trailing leg con...go past a player and pull your trailing leg against a defenders outstretched leg. then go down...Kane does it..well I mean who can trust him. Mane has been struggling but still doesn't look for the pen. I mean he's no angel...but he's honest enough.

I thought Ox was very good when he came on. A continuation of the Pep-inspired tactical fad to play midfielders at CF/false 9, but he did look comfortable there and pressed very well in addition to creating that chance for Salah.

Yes, he did, I did swear when I saw Klopp was about to bring him on but he did well when he come on linked up well. Prefer him in that role next time if he comes on then in midfield as he got into in tune of the game much more than recently.

Good to get a scabby arse win as someone put it.

Alisson - 5 some important saves and a clean sheet, but looked shaky as hell on crosses. No idea where that came from. Oh yeah, gave away a stonewall penalty. Sort of.

Natbak - 9 our CB pairing haven't made a proper mistake whilst playing together and compliment each other well. Fucking awesome.

TAA - 9 defended really well and looked a threat going forward.

Robbo - 6 uncharacteristically poor. Gave the ball away a lot, although did make a few important interventions and got better as the match went on

Thiago - 4 his worst match I think, and he has some competition. Telling forward balls non existent and a bit of a liability defensively.

Gini - 4 did he play?

Fabs - 7 not his commanding best but did enough and was solid

Salah - 6 very quiet, and didn't release the ball when he should have. Characteristic shit passing except for the goal where he remarkably combined fantastically with Mane.

Jota - 7 is it enough to play poorly and score? Well I say that's more than acceptable tonight. How lovely to think that your CF posseses a decent shot.

Mane - 6 split Forum opinion down the middle. I'm going for poor. Yes he did some good stuff, but he did more bad stuff. Good combo with the other "arrows" for the goal.

Remember when we just carved teams up at will? Nice wasn't it.

Hopefully we'll get back there soon. In the meantime enjoy the boot being on the other foot of a slightly lucky win. Lord knows we've battered so many teams in the last 12 months and come away with 0 or 1 point so this is not before time.

Yeah and the Ox does need something to pep him up. He might be Ok in that position, has a bit of pace, his first touch might let him down tho.Could be his last chance here.

Think he's more of a box to box combative type. Doesn't have the passing range to be a playmaker. As I said I'm not convinced. Obviously has qualities, energetic gets stuck in..but is that enough to hold down a place, and he's going to get a red card if he's not careful. Rather give Nabby a run.

yeah he was pretty good tbh, but that is because he came on when the game was more open. It was easier for him to look good.

Natbak.

I like it.

I thought Jota's finish was very good, very instinctive. The way he took it first time gave the keeper no chance to set himself up. The keeper was still in between moving out trying to close the angle when the ball flew by him.

In between losing form our usual front 3 had been guilty of constantly trying to shift a good chance to a favoured foot or favoured shot which is too predictable and gets shut down all too often.

We really needed 3 pts anyway at all so this will do nicely.

Jota makes such a difference.

9 games left to pinch 4th.

Worn these lucky shorts 3 times now watching us and 3 wins.
God they must stink to high heaven by now - at least if you are playing by the rules: undies, socks etc. are not allowed to be washed if deemed 'lucky' in case you wash the luck out.

They are not wrong. When is the last time you saw a penalty given (except for a CB holding - and even those are rare) when the attacking player didn't go down? Are they ever?!

Again rugby leads the way : if it's a penalty the ref looks for advantage whilst pointing to where the penalty will be (in football he could point to the spot with one hand whilst not blowing to see if the player scores). Not that different from open play anywhere else on the field.

Haha Jesus Christ. You'd think Thiago was some newbie not one of the world's Top 10 players (according to UEFA last season). And yeah, he's not a DM.

We weren't great but thankfully wolves are dogshit

Still feels better to have fab In the 6 , I think We should be able to hobble over the line with Nat and Kabak at CB if they can stay fit

Hobble over what kind?

We need to make up 5 pts in 9 games. Hobbling won’t get it done.

I actually said I'm not convinced he's right...for us. I'm aware of his achievements in the game. I know where he prefers to play. Why did you start your post with the.."Haha..JC.." Very strange way to reply. And you didn't put forward any relevant point..I know his history..

He probably said the same about Xavi in his prime.

Nuther half head post. I know his history. Thiago doesn't compliment this team. He can play, high energy etc..you probably haven't got a clue about his best position...and DO NOT endorse another posters pointless remarks as if he has made a relevant contribution to the debate..
