Where will Coutinho play?

So he can play left and central, we need a longterm playmaker to take the mantle (to a degree) from Gerrard, some have said that could be anyone from Suso, Suarez, Shelvey and now Coutinho, while others think he might take up the left sided role to make a mouthwatering front three of Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge. He could play either dependent on the game and our needs.

So what do we reckon?

Would probably be best to bed him him on the wing and rotate with sterling and borini

Probably, I just hope we grow some balls at some point, perhaps when we get a more athletic defensive player in there and allow someone to try to grow into the role, like Suso or whoever.

Coutinho like Suso belongs in the middle of the pitch.

Very few attacking midfielders get the luxury of playing in the middle. Even Zidane found himself out on left wing at Real Madrid and Ronaldinho the same at Barcelona.

Coutinho will probably end up on the wing and given that he has pace and can dribble, he might find it hard to persuade managers that he shouldn't play there.

Good problems to have though.

I am wondering if BR doesn't think that we require a defensive midfielder.

That Sissoko (sp?) went to the toon for £2 million and we weren't interested at that price.

He's not really a defensive midfielder though I still would've liked us to sign him.

I'm astounded no one was tbh, he's a bargain for them, again. Pardew is proving almost as shrewd as Wenger was in his earlier Arsenal days.

I hope we go for it, there's not really much chance of burn out but we need to be careful with Luis, I'd like to see us go all out on both fronts.

Yeah, I'm starting to warm to the idea of going for the Europa now. Be a nice stepping stone along the way to tippy tappy world domination.

He will replace Downing sometime in the 2nd half against West Brom I reckon.
Don't think anyone is sure of his favored position but he seems fairly versatile.
It's all about options and a variety of them is a good thing.
