They are nothing special are they.. ??

I know they say never write off UTD.. but they where poor today...

not only that you failed to see where they could impose themselves on the game..

Ageing squad, non existant midfield and some in-effective players such as Nani..

We outperformed and out muscled them on every area on the pitch...

Yep, they obviously still have a very good squad, but it certainly isn't as strong as it has been recently

But then neither is ours

They've performed more efficiently this season than I thought, but their lack of quality was always going to show against the better teams.

I still think we'll finish above them.

I hope you're right, but the winning habit is SO important and they still have that. They're not the first club to have won titles despite not always being clearly the best team out there. We also did it at times during the glory days, when Leeds in particular were arguably at least as good as us man for man.

Not that I give a shit.... but United really lacked character today.

They didn't show much fight or that strong mentality that we associate with them.

They really did struggle to get any sort of fluency going.

oh they are also dirty.. i lost count the amount of times they where trying to take Torres out of the game..

it seems they cannot handle him at all...

That's true, but we've also shown we're capable on huge winning runs last year.

We've also proved to have the stronger first team on the last three occasions. We'll need a bit of luck with injuries but once but once everyone's back and firing, I'm expecting us to sore up this league.

I felt they missed Darren Fletcher badly. He's a key player for them this season - very limited but one of the few who has that ruthlessness and gets attacks started. If he gets any more injuries and/or suspensions they'll find it tough to adapt, because they don't seem as flexible as before

Everyone said the same things last season and the cunts still ended up winning the title. I dare not write them off no matter what the circumstances.

Agree re: Fletcher as well. He gives their midfield a bit more bite and dynamism- would've put up more of a fight today.

Ginsoak's comments are the most incoherent he's made so far. Is he being rewritten by lawyers all the time these days? He still can't resist calling the 4-1 win last season a 'travesty'!

Sir Alex Ferguson believes his Manchester United side did not get a fair crack of the whip from referee Andre Marriner at Anfield.

Nemanja Vidic was sent off for two yellow cards and Ferguson questioned a number of the official's decisions as they slumped to their first defeat in 12 games in all competitions as Liverpool triumphed 2-0.

Goals from Fernando Torres and David Ngog ended Liverpool's run of four successive losses and eased the pressure on manager Rafael Benitez.

While Ferguson thought Liverpool deserved to win, he claimed that Marriner was swayed by the home crowd.

He felt Vidic was unlucky to be red-carded, that home defender Jamie Carragher should have been dismissed and Michael Carrick was denied a penalty.

Ferguson said: "It is very difficult atmosphere here. There was a wounded animal aspect to the game and it was something we did not overcome.

"I think it affected our players and it affected the referee. There were so many controversial things that happened we have to feel aggrieved at some of them.

"The Vidic booking was the worst decision. It is a foul, fine. But the player has played on, he won the second ball and knocked it for a throw in and got booked. It put Nemanja under pressure.

"The most controversial decision was Carragher bringing down Michael Owen. He was clear through.

"The laws of the game were altered to prevent professional fouls of that nature and if Carragher goes off, he is their best player and their captain. It would have been a different game. They would have been under pressure.

"The referee was only four or five yards from it and he cannot use a covering defender as an excuse. Michael was clean through. With Michael's pace he is going to get away from him."

Ferguson was also incensed United were not awarded a spot-kick for a Carragher challenge on Michael Carrick.

"He has gone right over the top of the ball, " said the United boss. "If it is outside of the box it is a free-kick and maybe a yellow card.

"But it was inside the box and the referee was only six yards from it. It was another bad decision."

Ferguson did, however, conceded Liverpool were worthy winners.

"Liverpool were the better team and I am not taking anything away from them at all," he said.

"They deserved to win the game as it was a disappointing performance from us. We were not good enough."

Torres opened the scoring in the 65th minute with his ninth goal of the season and Ngog sealed the victory in stoppage time.

United remain two points adrift of Chelsea at the top of the table and Ferguson insists they will recover.

He added: "Part of the challenge is to get over disappointments. Last season we lost at home 4-1 to Liverpool which was a travesty but we went on to win the league."

Ginsoak is bitter and losing to us rubs the salt in the wounds. I'm enjoying this. The best way for the lads and Rafa to do in the face of adversity is to just close shop and stick together. Unity is strength.

What is he talking about re Vidic sending off? Who played on? Who knocked it for a throw in? what second ball?

Vidic and Masher both deserved to walk, the Carragher tackle was risky but legit; he clearly got boot on ball first, and anyway, the ball fell to a United player afterwards.

Carragher also deserved to go but I that aside the ref was decent today. He's simply trying to save face.

I feared Carra would try TOO hard against Owen, but actually with that incident I thought at the time Owen was pulling first. I'd have to see it again. But, yes, it was funny.

carra's professional foul on owen was hilarious and fitting.

Ha! Indeed. Had a quick read of the RedCafe thread posted above and the 90% of the posts are rage filled rants about the ref. We should send 'rage' over on a foreign exchange program... lots of mutual learning to be had there I think.

I wouldn't have it any other way. That was a nice...icing on the cake moment. Not that i hate Owen as many do on this forum.

He'd never come back. He'd go native. (But he'd be very reasonable in the non-football forums.)

I just saw Ginsoak on Sky - he invests magical powers in the fans. They got players booked, they got free kicks given, they got bookings awarded and they got Vidic sent off. The lazy idiots should have kept Mascher on!

Hahaha. Mancs moaning about the referee. I wonder what they have to say when the ref saves them again next time.

I wonder what the FA will say when they read that he publicly critized the ref again, and said he wasnt experienced to referee this game and that he let the crowd get to him.

I guess it won't have any effect on the already ongoing case against him.

I actually thought he gave Utd far to many easy free kicks during the game.

Re Utd, yeah I agree they missed Fletcher. Scholes just can't handle the tough tempo anymore with the way we pressed them.
I Feared a goal against on a free kick, but we stood our ground very well today.

That mad jumping up and down again routine he does now on the touchline - hilarious. He should be banned twice over.
