Tottenham v Liverpool Post Match Thread

Wait til wijnaldum plays at home. Then he'll be boss.

Just pap for the other half of the season
I'm sure he used to score more away for PSV on the counter attack. It's just different teams styles and tactics . He might not score for us at all.

I think its unfair to single out sturridge in that game..

The whole team was useless against Burnley
But he's the focal point and the spearhead of the attack

It's bit singling him out but he was as abysmal as I've seen him

Mannnnn I'm gutted we didn't win that. We really deserved to. Played so well for the most part. Ahh well fuck it lets smash Leicester in 2 weeks and try to sort the home form out

I thought we played well. Another day and it would've been a cake walk. Shame not to get 3 points but I'll take it.

Wijnaldum has been at best anonymous in all of his games so far, at his worst he's been poor. Pointless signing so far.

It;s difficult to tell - but I know what everyone is saying - he seems like a pointless signing, I have no idea what he offers us.

Nah Wijnaldum is offering us nothing at the moment. He's not providing a goal threat, he's not a defensive shield, he's not skillful, he's not a great passer of the ball. What does he actually do?

Seems like he's playing within himself. But that in itself is an early indication that he might not have the mentality to play for us.
I'm surprised you've not seen what he has accomplished.
It's pretty obvious that Klopp has deliberately limited his attacking instincts from CM for the sake of the team.
He had a good game today, much of his work the important, but unrecognised, fetching and carrying. However he did well and when you consider that most thought our midfield would be overrun and in fact that was turned on its head with Hendo & Wij responsible for setting plenty of our many attacks in motion, as well as how impotent Alli & Erikson looked, then how well he and Hendo did, both in defence & attack, becomes clearer.

Yeah Wijnaldum was a pretty pointless signing.
He's not combative enough for central midfield and he's not going to be put into an advanced role with the options we have there.
The 25 million could have gone on more pressing needs.
This I can agree with. His best performances were at LM/LW but maybe he's only being played in CM whilst Can is recuperating and Milner has been forced to LB and so will revert later. Though competition is fierce for the front 4 slots.

Amusing to see people so surprised.
We finished 8th and signed some nobodies from soton and Newcastle. We're nobodies ourselves now.
Spitting on our faces rolling out another season with Dejan fucking Lovren and Simon Mignolet wearing the shirt

lovren has been in good form, get over his first season with us

new goalkeeper is injured, hence mignolet

Was worried about that midfield of ours but it did alright in the end.

4 points from the first 3 games. We're on par I think. Better than 3 draws

Behind par I reckon. I'd have predicted draws away to Arsenal and Spurs, but a win at burnley

For real?

Since some of you are so painfully aware of how far we've fallen, and take great pains to point it out every time we lose, how about you adjust your expectations accordingly.

Or, you know, embarrassingly shit on every manager we have unless they immediately waltz their way to a league title and buy you all the shiny things you need in lieu of love.

I can't wait for the "I've lost faith" posts if we lose our next game. Christians didn't exactly invent that nonsense to describe waiting around a year or two for Jesus to return then saying fuck it, he's a dick head.

Anyone else think Mignolet didn't have to come out on Rose? Snap decision but in hindsight it looked a bit rash.

I'm not expecting him to take the ball, skin three men, spray it out wide and then get onto into the middle and finish it, though any one of those things would be nice (he hasn't come close to doing any at any point in 3 games so far). But I do expect to see something in him. I don't know what type of player he is. He seems very sloppy, not very skillful, not a goal threat. Yeah he works hard, and cliché alert, but I want that from every player. From what you've said there, we've signed a £25m water-carrier.

I do expect that he will get better with time and confidence, but I do expect Can to come in and take his position, and perform better. He's shown nothing to suggest he could take one of the positions further forward either. I just don't really know what he is.

Early days and all that, and I didn't want us to sign him so my views may be a tad more cynical, but I am very disappointed so far.

He came back after three days didn't he?

The way I see it if you need goals you need your best goalscorer on the pitch long before the last five minutes. I just don't understand that. decision.

Yeah i don't get why people are downplaying spurs. They are a very good side, and tbh in the second half they were much the better side.We came back slightly after the goal but it was our usual meh fightback

Much the better side in second half...Really?? They were improved but bollocks were they much the better side.

Yes and No.

Yes because he ended up giving his near post away when he really should he spread his body a bit better.... but no because the space rose had, if he doesn't come out rose has time to touch and give himself a better angle to shoot on goal, mig had to close the space down but in doing so he didn't cover himself well.

If we had Hart in goal we win.
