He went on to play 85 mins against Benfica though Ryan. Didn't see Rafa 'protecting' him that night.
Something was obviously bothering him though Dave, cos he wasn't at full throttle in either game, and I haven't read anything about him getting injured at training in the last few days.
Not denying the at all Ryan. But I don't think this injury now justifies his bizarre substitution against Brum when he was left on the pitch for 85 mins against Benfica.

Only if you think the substitution at Brum was "bizarre", which I don't.

Something's not right with the main man, that's for sure.

It just shows you how good he is that he still manages to shit goals even through an injury plagued season.

Even more bizarre since Rafa was happy to let him remain on the pitch for 85 mins in the next game.

Anyway that is old news.

So the ice on the knee after the Birmingham substitution might have had some merit after all?
Neil agrees with you.
I'm a football fan
I'm a Liverpool fan. Aside from the odd moment from Barcelona etc, football is largely wank in my opinion, full of ponces and dickheads who I despise.
Maybe it's due to Liverpool being poor that I've lost interest, but I really don't care about anyone else anymore other than Liverpool. I'll watch the world cup probably, but with very little interest whatsoever on the outcome.
I enjoyed that.

So, I'm curious to how someone from TLW knows he'll be out for the reminder of the season, when he hasn't even seen a specialist yet.

Anyhoo, 4 matches left, 6 with the AM games. Without Torres and the way we're playing we won't even get into the Europa League next season.

I want the lad to have a boss WC then get beaten in the final by England. He loves this club & he deserves our support & to e recognised at the highest level as the best striker in world football.
What he said.
Our season's over anyway, I hope he's fit for the World Cup. He deserves to go and I would want him to just for his own personal gain. It'd kill him if he didn't get to go. He'd be 30 by the time of the next one with his best years behind him.

I wouldn't want our Nando unhappy.

Gutted for him if he's out of the Atletico game, though.
I'm more gutted for us. Look at the fucking state of the alternative.

I'm with George on this one. It will be hard to watch Spain with any enjoyment as I'll be fearful of Fernando getting injured, or enjoying the prospect of actually winning a trophy, something which is extremely unlikely to happen for his club.

torres can't/shouldn't be relied on to remain fit all season. we need another quality out and out striker and if that disrupts the gerrard/torres combo so be it. if we get decent funds in the summer we should go for bent, its time to see if he can take his game to the next level.

Elisha Scott has just posted this on YNWA

He has a knock on his knee, if the specialist says he needs an op to be fit for the World Cup he will miss the rest of our season. Alternatively he could play the rest of our season, then have the op and miss the World Cup.

well, I guess that's that as we all know what nando will want to do.

Imagine he plays the rest of the season.
Then I'd love him. I kind of hate him that he won't though.

Sicknote Spansish cunt.
That's not necessarily the case.

Haha. Good scare mongering.

tarrant - 'nando you have two options'

a) put your op on hold and help liverpool to the prestigious position of 5th and the europa cup

b) have the op now and be ready for the most celebrated cup competition in the world

nando - 'hmm, phone a friend or ask the audience...okay, I'll ask the audience'

audience (all liverpool fans)

* have op now/ready for world cup - 02%
* have op later/help liverpool win europa - 98%

nando - 'fuck that, OPP! sorry chris! After much soul searching I've decided on having my op now.

He's already said that he'll stay, so it doesn't matter what you think about him leaving. Cause he won't.

If he left simply because of this shitty season we've just had then good riddance I'd say. But he won't.

eh. Who's Cugat? Witchdoctor? Got him as a classical violinist in my google search.

Unless......hmmm.....you don't know what "stay of execution" means?

[from the official]

"Fernando Torres was examined by a knee specialist this afternoon in Spain. He received treatment and will continue to do so over the next few days, with the injury being reassessed later this week."

sure I do.
basically if the deadline for the loan was the same i.e. july then in a deparate attempt to hold onto the club they (G&H) could have sold torres and gerrard to raise a 100m but now that the loan deadline has been pushed back by 9 months there is no immediate need for them to find the fee to refinance the loan.

After missing Sunday's clash with Fulham with a knee injury, Liverpool Football Club have today released the following statement.

"Fernando Torres was examined by a knee specialist this afternoon in Spain. He received treatment and will continue to do so over the next few days, with the injury being reassessed later this week."

So in other words, we know nothing.
