The Bitters are better than us

So what they are better than us (in whatever measurement be it league position or management)?

I can live with it.

I assume it's because they are above us in the league and if they finish above us, they are a better side.

I've always been brought up with league table doesn't lie myself, dunno about you.

I think it'd be better to wait for end of season League table before judgment. Points total decides better-ness.

I just think this is all a bit pre-emptive.
To clarify, their game in hand is away to Arsenal.
Then they have to play us at Anfield.
We have lost one in 6 so are playing decent football.
Im not saying we 100% will finish ahead of them of course, I just think this thread is too early.

Yep. Unlike Wenger's opinion, you don't get a trophy for fourth place.

We've won 21 trophies since they last won anything. They can fuck right off.

Is right, fuck this shit "they're better than us".

When was the last time they won anything? Them winning something is having the bragging rights when they beat us, or once in a blue moon finishing above us, that's their aspirations. As for them having better quality than us, I don't really agree, they've got a good squad but they lack anyone of the quality of Gerrard, Suarez or Coutinho.

We've just been inconsistent and lack a few players, we've got better quality in several players, they just have a bit more of a balanced side and let's not forget, regardless of transfer fees, a manager that's had years to instill his methods and stabilise his setup. Or does that count for nothing because they've spent less 🙄

Portsmouth won the FA cup more recently than Everton won a trophy.

Are they better than Everton then?

This season and last will be as good as it ever gets for them, they are at their peak. We know its going to get better for us, we are on our way back from our nadir.

I was joking, kinda. But there's a big difference in one trophy and 20-odd that we've won. Finishing slightly higher in the league for a season or two does not make you better. Clubs exist to win trophies and we are miles better than Everton at doing it. I could not care less about finishing slightly lower than them, given that they haven't actually achieved anything by finished higher. We're in a better position to win trophies and also to compete with the top teams in the next few years, something I can't see Everton doing for a long time.

Does it bother anyone ? - no not really - as I have come to realize that we are just a shit team and will for the next few years keep looking up and seeing our worst enemies up there competing for CL places while we just suffocate in a toilet.

Everton aren't better than us, they have greater belief as a collective while we're a team in transition.

Let them have their "Summer in The Lying Rag".....

Finishing above us to them is like winning the league.... When we do it to them we don't give a shit....

That says it all.

Too many of you are mixing up the concepts of a better football side and a better club.

Bill Kenwright, John Parrot, Judi Dench, Amanda Holden, Austin Healey, Degsy Hatton, Mike Bloody Parry, er that's about it, we'll always give your boys one hell of a beating!!!!

They are a better side than us, though. 2 years on the trot above us, with a fraction of the budget and a good manager. There's no point denying it. They are. League table doesn't lie and all that.

They're not a better "club", though.

The comparison between us and them proves, if proof were needed, that a good team unit can take you further than greater individual talent, once the players involved are above a certain minimum standard at any rate.

That said, this is as good as it's going to get for them, unless some sugar daddy comes in and bankrolls the club. I don't think that's true of us, and I reckon we'll be back ahead of them in the not too distant future.

It's strange because if you look on paper, I would take maybe only one or two of their players over ours. But as a team they're so much more solid and consistent than us. I agree with JJ that it's proof of how far teamwork gets you, and a good manager of course.

If we had their fight, determination and cohesion, we'd be well on our way to being a good team. At the minute, though, we have too many bottlers.
