I have to say.. Being brutally honest...

I am worried...

After our last Title challenge we lost our Key player Alonso.. The following season we never Recovered..

The loss of Alonso Clearly showed.. We finished 7.

This time around its Suarez.. Our key player last season... The stats show just that. It's not just what he did on the field, his presence on the training pitch lifted other to excel last season. A true leader in every word...

How the hell do you go about replacing him... ????

So you see he was key to our title push last season, I see his loss bigger than Alonsos was... I really do worry that we will struggle to adapt without him.. just like we did without Alonso..

I fear we are just trying to patch the squad up with depth and are hoping for the best..

Instead of bringing in a player with a similar nature to Suarez, one that can lift everything and everyone around him

We have time to 'replace' Suarez's leadership on the pitch ... Hopefully, Remy/Lambert can score 20 goals between them, and Studge can get 20-25 and we'll be fine.

If we don't replace his leadership and how he demanded from his team the same effort and desire on the pitch, we will struggle to finish top 4.

Sign Vidal.

100% agree, that's why we need a big game player, a match winner, we need someone who can do a bit of the spectacular.

Even with Suarez I thought we'd struggle for 4th next season

I don't think the situation is that similar really.

We lost Xabi from that team but none of Gerrard, Torres, Carra or Reina ever played to the level they showed in that title challenge. On paper we had a good team still but in reality only Mascher played like himself. That team had peaked in 2008/2009 and was on the downward path.

We are losing the something of the spectacular without Suarez but there's still plenty of goal threat in our current side. We also hope Sterling and Coutinho will step up and contribute more. Now we have young team that's on the upward path.

This is all before we talk about the signings Rafa made to replace Alonso and the signings Brendan is making to help us cope without Suarez.

I've been saying this for a while but people have trouble admitting that Suarez fucking carried us for 4 seasons.

I can see us winning some games really well with goals coming in from several players. That's an improvement. What worries me are the really tight games when we really need a ruthless and opportunistic striker. We do need another top goalscorer.

We do - But I have faith we'll get one.

Top clubs routinely replace top players. None of their squads stay the same season after season. For sure this will be a leap into the unknown, but IMO the club's in good hands on and off the pitch, so I say: bring it on. 😎

We still have a lot of work to do. I think our team is weaker than it was, and I don't think we'll see the same production out of Sturridge this season either.

I hope all those posters who hate him can say, "See told you so" when we finish top 4 (or win the league) next year but my gut says they'll be eating humble pie and realizing how fucking important he was for everything we did. Then again, if the Gaffa is as special as some of us think, let's see how he pushes the team forward.

Nobody doubts his importance to us Avy - You know that...

I'm not optimistic at all.

Could all change, but as of now, I can see us struggling against the decent sides next year.

These were our signings when Xabi left:

IN: Johnson (Portsmouth), Aquilani (AS Roma), Kyrgiakos (AEK Athens), Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid), Mavinga (Paris SG), Voronin (Hertha Berlin, loan return)

Shocking transfer window. Not comparable at all imho.

Love the negativity 5 weeks before the transfer window closes.
This window is already quite good. One top player would result in an excellent window.
Even if we had kept Suarez, he wouldnt be avaliable until November.

Every signing we've made can have a good impact, and you can add one more year on Sterling, who'll probably turn out to be our best player in the future.
Fuck the negativity at this stage.

Only time will tell...

As people have said, clubs lose the big players all the time.

We do need a decent sized signing, but we will never buy a 40m player.

All we can hope for is another great talent to sign for us, and make the jump forward.

I have faith the Rodgers and co are smart enough to keep adapting,

The Alonso thing was a different time when we were Screwed financially. And look who we signed.
