I would be over the moon if we signed tevez. It would piss off the mancs somethin chronic. I would probably agree he is similar to kuyt but he definately has more of a goal threat, better on the ball and uglier. Re the comments about rotation and bein a sub so often if would definately get more games for us than he has done there, hasnt fergie rotated more than rafa this season? Even if kuyt stayed tevez could take over from yossi who has seen more game time recently. Maybe not as subtle as yossi but definately stronger and works harder. Get on the phone mascher please
'more of a goal theat' is debateable. last season (debut season) tevez got 15 league goals, kuyt got 12 league goals in his debut season. second season drop off for both players but tevez' drop off is far greater than kuyt's.
but the vital thing is that Tevez is younger, and quicker.
simply put I don't know if I'd perfer tevez to kuyt simply because I don't think tevez would have adapted to being shunted wide as well as kuyt has. rafa seems very dertimined to has players that 'buzz' around torres nad imho gerrard already occupies the position tevez would want so he'd have to push wide and wide he be as effective there as kuyt?

Could we not take him on loan again like the mancs did? there is also the ownership issue to be worried of.
We'd have to pay like the mancs did. but it is an appealing idea. I have no doubts a deal could be struck with Kia (afterall the Mascher deal went smoothly), and it would allow us to see whether or not he would fit in here. The only thing is if teams start coming in for him at the money that is wanted for him, there would be no point for him taking a loan deal then.

Yeah we have focused on getting that kind of winger every summer for the last ten summers
This summer Asim, this summer.

If Rafa doesn't sign a quality wideman now that we have most other positions sorted, then I'm going to start refusing to suck his cock.
Please also withhold your sexual favours if he fails to sign a great back up striker - let's get him focused 😉

Once more I need to remind you all about a chap called Phil Chisnall...
Erm, wouldn't he be out of contract and therefore, technically (as much as his ownership rights allow anyway), a free agent?

Maybe, but the thing is, the last player to cross the divide was Phil in 1964. There's a reason for that! I like Tevez as a player but I think we have more pressing areas to spend £25m plus on, like the left hand side of midfield.

But if we got him i wouldn't complain, I just don't want him to be the be all and end all of our activity this summer. If he comes, then good. But I'm not sure it will happen.

I'll tell you what Froggy, if Rafa gets it right (like i think he will) I'm going to have a jaw like Desperate Dan by the end of next season.

My worshipping will hit new heights!

Ha ha ! Desperate Dan is OK - so long as you don't end up looking like Plug !

I think the FA have changed the rules about these types of loans tho; dont think it's possible anymore.

Re: Tevez

Anyone know if theres any truth to the rumour about us being after tevez? He was quoted today saying he would be interested in playing for us.

Re: Tevez

It wouldn't surprise me - Rafa does like his Argies (and with good reason most of the time).

I can't decide what I think about it. I've always liked Tevez and initially I was hoping he'd come to us along with Mascherano. Now, though, I'm not sure where he'd fit into our system.

he mentioned half the league and his agent is after a £40m fee, frankly that is laughable and probably just a negotiatiating tactic with the Man Utd board

He'll go Citeh.
I think so too.

He's an awkward fit for us, and if the price is in the 40m range rather than the 20m range then I'd rather we steered well clear.

Re: Tevez

That he will. Citeh need more hard workers in that team, especially up front, and they don't work any harder than Tevez.

Re: Tevez
he will be a great signing for city, if so.
Perhaps, but if he goes, Tevez will regret the move after the first season of midtable mediocrity.

Re: Tevez

He was at the weekend in a couple of papers I saw, along with us, the Arse and the Chavs.

Why would he go there?  Money, the prospect of other top players/a top manager arriving, a desire to stick it to ManUre, the challenge of helping Citeh break into the top four, all or any of those might appeal to him.

Re: Tevez

To win the league next season (and I still haven't ruled out our chances this season) we will need more guile BUT you can never have too much energy/passion and therefore I would be in favour of signing Tevez (for under £25m) as long as we also bring more creativity in.

If we get; Silva, Blazscowski and Tevez I would be ecstatic, it would give us a great mixture of skill and commitment. The creativity of; Torres, Blazscowski, Silva, (and also to a lesser extent Gerrard & Tevez) added to the commitment of; Kuyt, Tevez, Gerrard, Mascher, Carra etc would give us the ability to overpower teams both physically and skill-wise.

Re: Tevez

Tevez has some guile and can make things happen out of nothing while also working hard and running himself to the ground.
Plus he is a nutty Argie, we need more nutty Argies to play for us

Tevez is well worth 25M imo and should be bought.

I agree

I remember when robin described him as "a barefoot, tree-climbing Argie".

I nearly flatlined.

I miss robin...

Re: Tevez

most of the British media suggest that if he leaves United his preference is for Liverpool. doubt we'll pay top dollar though
