Re: Tevez

A selection of quotes. Read them & try to imagine him playing under Rafa...
"It makes me feel good when Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick talk well about me but they are not the manager.I train very hard, play well and then I'm dumped. When I play I feel good, then when I don't I am upset.

"Things have changed dramatically this season. I was dropped - yet I didn't perform badly. Sir Alex never gave me an explanation but I never asked him for one because it is not in my character.

"I accepted it but maybe Sir Alex didn't feel the same way about me. Maybe he didn't have confidence in me any more."

Tevez has become frustrated this season at his lack of appearances. Despite being involved in more games than Rooney or Dimitar Berbatov, he has either started or finished on the bench an astonishing 27 times. He has been an unused substitute on 10 further occasions.

He has also been substituted 12 times in all competitions and has played the full 90 minutes in just 20 games, five of them in the Carling Cup.

He added: "I scored four goals against Blackburn in the Carling Cup but then got dropped for the next game.

"I came on and scored against Porto in the Champions League quarter-final but was dropped for the away leg. I scored two against Fulham and was dropped for the next game.

"Whether I come on and play well or whether I come on the pitch and play just OK, I know I am going to get dropped. It has a negative impact - your mentality is affected and you get demoralised."

"I played last season and was the second top scorer. We won the Champions League and the Premier League. I helped to achieve that success and then I was dumped for no real reason."

"I'm disappointed not to get more games but it's been the choice of the coach.

"If I run my a*** off, if I score or don't score, I know that after 60 minutes I'm going to be taken off. If I don't start I know I am only going to get 15 or 20 minutes.

Re: Tevez

Yeah, I thought the same thing Jon. City is the right place for Carlos - until he realises that he'll never win anything and won't get to play in the CL there.

I will add even a player of tevez' calibre can struggle when not given consistant starts. its a big big ask to expect someone to perform from the bench.

Not what I was getting at.

Each one of those quotes is talking about how he's pissed off for being dropped when playing well, for playing well & worrying that he may not start the next game despite that, being dropped after scoring multiple times & he even says 'being subbed at 60 minutes'.

They're all things Rafa has done & still does over & over again.

I'm saying he's leaving Utd cos Fergie's doing to him EXACTLY what Rafa does to players. So he'd not be happy here either.

He is clearly a better player than Dirk, there can really be no logical argument against that. We had a similar thread last week. As Terriers thread says, and I agree with him, Dirk has been fairly average for much of the season, but fair do's has been pretty good of late.
Don't compare goals for the two, Dirk has been an ever present, Tevez has not.
Tevez is a different kettle of fish altogether, same work ethic, but brighter and better touch. Is he worth two or three times as much as Dirk? Probably not, but............ to raise the quality of the squad you have to spend disproportionately. or you end up with average. You also have to take risks, if you think it is the right player, just as we did with Keane, OK that one did not work. Personally I think Tevez and Torres would work and think it would be worth a go.
Others will disagree and that is fair enough.
Is the right answer. I think he's perfect for Rafa, and he's young, so...

I don't think rafa would move for tevez with kuyt on the books, where would he (tevez) play? left wing?

I think a player that suits our style and shape and services our needs (width width width) is far more important than the 'perfect rafa player'. morientes was the perfect rafa player.

Right wing. We'd then have Kuyt on the bench (he's proved he will stay & try to fight for his place) & he can play multiple positions so he's an ideal squad player. That said I think Kuyt is (currently) good enough & the money'd be better spent elsewhere.

when rafa devotes as sizeable chunk to the flanks as he has on the forward/central positions he'll win the league, no question. tevez is not the driod we are looking forward...move along.

Maybe Moyes is FINALLY gonna get some cash to buy players & his agents been tipped off. If any manager deserves backing it's him. Not that I want him to be, but that's not the point.

He might not be, but he's EXACTLY the right type of player for Rafa.
unfortunately.
I'm clinging to the hope rafa has watched this season and has learnt his lesson.
tevez doesn't strike me as the player to break down stubborn defenses, our biggest flaw this season.

Re: Tevez

I would be over the moon if we signed tevez. It would piss off the mancs somethin chronic. I would probably agree he is similar to kuyt but he definately has more of a goal threat, better on the ball and uglier. Re the comments about rotation and bein a sub so often if would definately get more games for us than he has done there, hasnt fergie rotated more than rafa this season? Even if kuyt stayed tevez could take over from yossi who has seen more game time recently. Maybe not as subtle as yossi but definately stronger and works harder. Get on the phone mascher please

Re: Tevez

Unless we have a lot more money to spend than we all think, then there is no way we should be interested in signing Tevez. If however we could afford to spunk £40m on 2 attacking players, then I'd be all for it.

A forward 3 of:

-------------Torres---------------

Silva----------------------Tevez

Would be fu*king ace.

As this is highly unlikely, we should just focus on a winger that has pace, skill and quality.

Re: Tevez

Yeah we have focused on getting that kind of winger every summer for the last ten summers

'more of a goal theat' is debateable. last season (debut season) tevez got 15 league goals, kuyt got 12 league goals in his debut season. second season drop off for both players but tevez' drop off is far greater than kuyt's.
